Everybody has one or the other memorable incident of his or her life. This particular incident takes such a serious turn that it is long remembered in later life. Some incidents of day to day life influence our character and future course of life.

We always remember such events. Well, this memorable incident of mine happened when I was in high school. So it went like this, my friend Nicole’s birthday is nearly approaching. So, she decided to treat us on her birthday. And she only invited her ten top friends, including me.

Luckily, her parents would give some money for addition on her birthday treat. So, we were like so happy because it was the first time she will treat us on her birthday. Then right, her birthday comes. Our meeting place was at the school bench around 10 o’clock in the morning.

We’re so excited that time, so no one came late. But then, we stayed a little bit longer in the school because we are waiting for a jeepney to drive us to the mall. And when we’re already in the jeepney, we were so noisy then that the driver can really be so annoyed to us because of our loud voices. Finally, we have already arrived at the mall at 11 o’clock in the morning.First thing we realized was that, we are already hungry.

And right, Nicole suggested us to eat first but we are so confused on which restaurant we want to go and eat. It takes time when we finally decide what restaurant we shall go. The incident happened in that restaurant, it goes like this. We seated in the front part of the restaurant because it’s facing the butterfly garden which gives a nice view to people who are passing and eating by. Apparently, we’re looking at the menu for us to pick some delicious food we wanted to eat.

Then, Nicole by herself went to the counter, paid the bills and took the order for us. Meanwhile, my best friend Liezl and I realized that Nicole can’t take all of our orders alone so we went to the counter and saw this one tray with full of drinks. Nicole left the tray to us and Liezl carried the tray and I’m just assisting her to avoid sliding of the drinks. So when we reached in our seats, we’re about to put down the drinks but it all suddenly slide and glide down on the ground.

The costumers looked at us and obviously, we caught their attention. We were like at lost that time that all of us ran and went to the butterfly garden and leave the drinks on the ground like we don’t know what just happened. Liezl and I feel so embarrassed that can’t even face everybody because on what we’ve done or even go in to the restaurant because of what happened. But then, we say sorry to Nicole for doing things so reckless.

Then Nicole ordered drinks again for us and we went back in our seats and eat quietly. The birthday treat of Nicole was just too memorable for me that until now is still written on my memory and won’t ever forget that embarrassing moment or incident in my life.

Memorable Day of My Life: 120 Words

Last month, our school arranged a trip to the Taj Mahal, Agra. The beauty of the Taj Mahal seemed to have no parallel.  It is made of white marble on the bank of the river Yamuna. The garden in front of it has tall cypress trees, colourful flowers, and rows of mountains. Many precious gems and stones are seen set on the tomb.

I found in the Taj Mahal the artistic and cultural heritage of India. Every stone of this building tells the story of the true love of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz. The white marble structure unrolled before me a new world of beauty. It is, indeed, matchless in beauty and grandeur. That’s why it is considered one of the seven wonders of the world. I was greatly charmed by its beauty. I felt breathless for a white. It was undoubtedly the most memorable day of my life.

The most memorable incident of my life is when I got an opportunity to exhibit my talent on stage in front of a huge audience. I always dreamt of becoming a singer. As a kid, I used my toothbrush as the mike and treated my dolls as my audience.

I was enrolled in a vocal training course in an eminent singer’s singing class and from there, based on my performance I was selected to display my skills at the Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Initially, I was a bit nervous, but got over it soon when I heard the tune. My performance was well received and the audience acclaimed me with their applauds and kept yelling “once more”. The incident made me feel on top of the world.

A moment which is sweet lasts long in our memory. I distinctly remember the day. My H. S. examination was over and I was having a relaxed time. One day, after spending the afternoon with my friends, I returned home.

My parents were waiting for me. Sister also came running. She was carrying a big envelope in her hand. They all seemed to be very excited and their faces bore reflections of animated joy. My sister shouted that there was a good news for me in the envelope and she would not tell unless she got a heavy bakshis.

After much cajoling, I could get the letter. Lo and behold! It was the admission letter from the I.I.T, Kharagpur. My joy then knew no bounds, I did quite well in the joint entrance examination. But to get selected finally in the highly competitive all-India test was something none could be sure of. In fact, I was a little tense to know the result.

Parents blessed me for my success. Neighbours also came. They all congratulated me again and again. I was lost in golden dreams. At last, I was going to join an institution of international fame! It was the happiest and most memorable day in my life because my future career got a definite direction that day. But that happy day taught me a lesson, too. I made up my mind to work hard in order to be successful in my career.

The most unforgettable moment in my life is when one day I was travelling from Jammu to Dehli by train. I was in the first class, so only a few passengers were there with me. At a specific station, all of them got off. I was now in the compartment absolutely alone.

After a moment, a clever lady walked into the compartment and sat next to me. She had an ingenious scheme to rob me. She told me she would report to the railway police that I had robbed her if I did not hand over all the money I had to her. I was totally and utterly perplexed when I heard this horrible voice. I made a plan to save myself from that lady’s wicked plan. Therefore, I pretended to be a deaf and a dumb fellow and asked her to write what she wanted to say on a piece of paper. She wrote her request happily on the piece of paper and handed it over to me. I changed my seat to pick up a piece of writing. The railway policeman came and asked what the matter was. As smart as she was, the women burst into admissions, so she said I had robbed her of a thousand rupees. He seemed to believe in her false story at first, but when I gave the piece of writing to the police, she turned pale. She was caught red-handed, so I saved myself from her evil scheme.

500 Words Essay on Happy Incident in My Life

Life is a beautiful journey, punctuated by moments of joy, sorrow, triumph, and defeat. Among these myriad emotions, the ones that we cherish the most are the happy incidents, those serendipitous encounters that leave an indelible mark on our lives. One such incident in my life occurred during my college years, which not only brought immense joy but also significantly impacted my life trajectory.

The Unplanned Trip

It was the summer of my second year in college, a time of exploration and self-discovery. A group of friends and I decided to embark on an unplanned road trip to a nearby town. The spontaneity of the trip, the thrill of the unknown, and the camaraderie among friends were exhilarating. Little did I know that this trip would lead to a happy incident that would change my life.

The Unexpected Meeting

While exploring the town, we stumbled upon a local book fair. Being an avid reader, I was drawn to the myriad of books, their pages whispering untold stories. As I was engrossed in a book, I bumped into a stranger who happened to share my enthusiasm for literature. Our conversation flowed naturally, from our favorite authors to the influence of literature on society. This unexpected meeting with a stranger at a book fair in an unknown town was the happy incident I had been unaware I was seeking.

A New Path Unfolds

The stranger was a professor of literature at a renowned university. Our shared passion for literature led to a mentor-mentee relationship. He introduced me to various literary theories and perspectives that I had been oblivious to. This encounter not only enhanced my understanding of literature but also inspired me to pursue a career in it. I switched my major from engineering to literature in my final year of college, a decision that was met with surprise and skepticism. However, I was confident in the path I had chosen, all thanks to the happy incident at the book fair.

The Lasting Impact

Looking back, that unplanned trip and the subsequent encounter at the book fair have had a profound impact on my life. It not only brought me immense joy at the moment but also shaped my future. Today, as a literature professor, I often recount this incident to my students to emphasize the role of serendipity in life.

In conclusion, life is an unpredictable journey with its share of happy incidents. These incidents, no matter how small or insignificant they may seem at the time, have the potential to change our lives in unimaginable ways. As John Lennon once said, “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” So, embrace these happy incidents and let them guide you on your path.

That’s it! I hope the essay helped you.

In that moment, I felt a blend of shock, fear, and concern for those involved. It was a memorial of the unpredictability of life and how snappily effects can change. The incident tutored me the value of cherishing every moment and appreciating the safety and well- being of oneself and others. I was poor and gay — and my childhood revolved around hiding that

In a personal essay, NBC News correspondent Steven Romo shares how releasing his secrets became his superpower.

Standing in the airport fidgeting with my plastic, TV reporter earpiece, my camera crew is setting up to interview a traveler when she fills the brief silence by asking, “How does your wife like New York?”

It’s a small conversational crossroads I’ve faced many times. Is it easier for this quick interview to just not correct her that I have a husband instead of a wife? Still, I find myself answering in milliseconds, “My husband is still adjusting, I think. He does miss driving and good Tex-Mex though.”

“Oh, sorry! Husband. My own husband doesn’t even have a driver’s license. Never needed one,” she says, continuing the conversation without much of a pause.

With the camera’s red light on, I ask about her travel delays. Then when we’re finished recording, she says with a slight chuckle, “I actually didn’t fly until I was in my 40s. Grew up dirt poor. Just didn’t want to say that on camera.”

I find myself faced with another coming out.

“You’re not alone there. I actually grew up poor too. My first plane ride was in my 30s, but I had to use about three different credit cards to pay for it. You probably made better choices than I did.”

We laugh a bit more, I thank her for chatting and she disappears out of the sliding glass door.

But this airport encounter, though brief, stuck with me — a reminder that honesty, even about something seemingly inconsequential like marital status or family background, could make me feel so fond of an absolute stranger. It was a sense of simple connection that I’d spent years robbing myself of with constant pretense, trying to not stand out.

Flipping through the scant photos that survived my roach-infested childhood, I can’t help but smile at the greasy-haired kid staring back at me. He had no idea the parts of himself he hated would turn out to be exactly what saved him. What I wanted most back then was to be normal — to fit in. No matter how hard I tried and schemed, I never quite got there. My family and I always seemed to stand out. I was usually one of only a few Latino students in my classes. It was much more than that, though. While other kids were getting dropped off at school by minivans glazed in blue, the jalopies that I arrived in were decorated with rust spots and cracked windows. And when most classmates were wearing crisp, new back-to-school clothes, I was washing my own clothes in the bathroom sink and using a permanent marker to try to resuscitate my faded, formerly black jeans.

A young Steven Romo school portrait

Hiding many of these differences was just not possible. But that didn’t keep me from trying — scheming — to hide who I really was. Tall tales about my “wealthy parents” forcing me to wear dirty, ragged clothes to keep me humble didn’t fool classmates for very long. So, I reverted to secrecy and aloofness. Those were some of the earliest things I learned at home — my first language in a way. It’s not something I was explicitly taught, like how to tie my shoes. These were skills I picked up by watching my parents. When someone came to the front door, I learned to freeze in place so the visitor would think no one was home. This was all an effort, to varying degrees of success, to hide what was going on behind that flimsy door.

Trying to explain the conditions of the house seems simple. We had five or six dogs that never went outside. They used the carpet as their bathroom. And the fast food trash piled up over any surface that could hold it. The predictable roach infestation followed. My mom, who ended up passing away while I was in college, had mental health struggles she never truly got help for.  My dad worked as a big rig driver. That left my siblings and me to navigate the chaos on our own.

But then around fifth grade, a new secret I learned about myself made me feel even more alone. Just as many of the other boys started to show interest in girls, I figured out I was gay. I fought it. I tried to will myself straight. I tried to pray myself “normal.” When that didn’t work, I resorted to what felt most natural to me anyway: I decided to hide it.

Projecting this false self into the world every waking moment wasted so much time and energy. And worse, it kept me perpetually at a distance from everyone else. There was always an invisible wall manifested in lies and half-truths. I see that now in these photos showing younger me’s big brown eyes. He was so full of worry and doubt that no kid should have had to carry.

Of course, it wasn’t until I shared these secrets that I was able to wriggle out from under their weight and finally breathe. In high school, I told my best friend about the situation at home. He told me it wasn’t my fault. After I got my first job in news, I told my sister I was gay. She told me she’d already figured that out, and we grew even closer. Coming out freed me. I finally gave myself permission to meet more LGBTQ+ people, and I learned that queer joy is even more powerful than queer sorrow.

Coming out freed me. I finally gave myself permission to meet more LGBTQ+ people, and I learned that queer joy is even more powerful than queer sorrow.

It wasn’t until I stopped trying to blend in that I realized these differences are what gave me the tools I needed to make it. Being an outsider proved to be a gift in disguise. If you’re lucky, feeling isolated can lead to self-reliance, and that helped me navigate my way out of my upbringing. And now covering the news, I get to connect with not only other LGBTQ+ people in their own lived experiences but also others who exist on the margins — the overlooked, the people who feel different. I have the honor of speaking with them in a way others may not be able to. Like interviewing Kate and Trish Varnum, the first same-sex couple to marry in Iowa , and truly understanding their fresh fears about anti-LGBTQ+ legislative proposals targeting their union. Or reporting on a surge of GoFundMe campaigns raising money for same-sex couples’ fertility care , because some insurance companies use definitions that leave them without adequate coverage.

Steven Romo standing happily next to his husband

It turns out, all those things I spent so much time and energy resisting and hiding as a kid have given me superpowers as an adult. And the radioactive spider? That turned out to be simple honesty, allowing me to spin webs of connection. Now, with each truth I share, with each story I tell, I can help bridge the divide between the margins and the blinding mainstream.

Sure, it’s not always easy. There were a lot of ups and downs along the way, like when I dropped out of high school, struggled with depression and constantly fought to make ends meet. And the flip side of that self-reliance sometimes manifests in distancing myself from those who love me. That’s something I’m still working on, and in some ways maybe I always will be.

Looking back at the grimy kid in these tattered photos, I see that while he might not have realized it, he was always meant to tell tales. Not ones to hide who he was or how he struggled, but about how he survived. And of finding the extraordinary strength in embracing the beautiful mess of who we truly are.

Men Fear Me, Society Shames Me, and I Love My Life

A photo illustration of a woman on a beach facing a sunset. The sun’s reflected light is seen through her silhouette.

By Glynnis MacNicol

Ms. MacNicol is a writer, a podcast host and the author of the forthcoming memoir “I’m Mostly Here to Enjoy Myself.”

I was once told that the challenge of making successful feminist porn is that the thing women desire most is freedom.

If that’s the case, one might consider my life over the past few years to be extremely pornographic — even without all the actual sex that occurred. It definitely has the makings of a fantasy, if we allowed for fantasies starring single, childless women on the brink of turning 50.

It’s not just in enjoying my age that I’m defying expectations. It’s that I’ve exempted myself from the central things we’re told give a woman’s life meaning — partnership and parenting. I’ve discovered that despite all the warnings, I regret none of those choices.

Indeed, I am enjoying them immensely. Instead of my prospects diminishing, as nearly every message that gets sent my way promises they will — fewer relationships, less excitement, less sex, less visibility — I find them widening. The world is more available to me than it’s ever been.

Saying so should not be radical in 2024, and yet, somehow it feels that way. We live in a world whose power structures continue to benefit from women staying in place. In fact, we’re currently experiencing the latest backlash against the meager feminist gains of the past half-century. My story — and those of the other women in similar shoes — shows that there are other, fulfilling ways to live.

It is disconcerting to enjoy oneself so much when there is so much to assure you to expect the opposite, just as it is strange to feel so good against a backdrop of so much terribleness in the world. But with age (hopefully) comes clarity.

Fifty is a milestone. And the fact my 50th birthday lands on or around some other significant 50ths has brought some things into focus. Last year was the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. This year is the 50th of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, which may be less well known but remains significant: It allowed women for the first time to have bank accounts and credit cards in their own name, not needing a male signature.

That my birth date landed between the passing of these two landmark laws makes it easier for me to see that the life I’m living is a result of women having authority over both their bodies and their finances. I represent a cohort of women who lead lives that do not require us to ask permission or seek approval. I have availed myself of all the choices available to me, and while the results come with their own set of risks, they have been enormously satisfying.

The timing of my birthday also helps me see the violent rollback of women’s rights happening right now as a response to the independence these legal rights afforded women. Forget about the horror of being alone and middle-aged — there is nothing more terrifying to a patriarchal society than a woman who is free. That she might be having a better time without permission or supervision is downright insufferable.

My entry into middle age certainly had the makings of an unpleasant story.

Like many, I spent the early months of the pandemic by myself. It was the type of solitary confinement that popular science, and certain men with platforms, enjoy reminding us will be the terrible future that awaits a woman who remains single for too long. I went untouched by anyone. Unsmelled, too, which you might think is a strange thing to note, but it’s an even stranger thing to experience. Unseen except by the building exterminator and the remaining doormen of the Upper West Side who gave distant friendly greetings on my evening walks around Covid-empty New York.

Alone, unmarried, childless, past my so-called prime. A caricature, culture would have it, a fringe identity; a tragedy or a punchline, depending on your preference. At the very least a cautionary tale.

By August 2021, I was desperate — not for partnership but for connection. I bought a ticket to Paris, a place where I’d spent much of my free time before the pandemic and where I had a group of friends.

Paris, I reminded myself, prioritizes pleasure. I dived in. Cheese, wine, friendships, sex — and repeat.

At first it was shocking. I was ill prepared to get what I wanted, what it seemed I had summoned. There were moments when I wondered whether I should be ashamed. I had also never felt so free and so fully myself. I felt no shame or guilt, only the thrill that came with the knowledge I was exercising my freedom.

These days, generally speaking, there is little in cinema or literature, let alone the online world, to suggest that when you are a woman alone (forget about a middle-aged woman), things will go your way, as I have often experienced.

There have been better times. In the 1980s, sitcoms were stacked with starring women for whom men were a minor-character concern — “Designing Women,” “Murphy Brown,” “The Golden Girls” — all of which, if they premiered today (and that’s a big if), would feel radical. Later there was “Girlfriends.” Even “Sex and the City,” with its often regressive marriage plotting, remains surprisingly modern in its depictions of adult friendship and sexual mores. In each case, just as it looked as if these narratives might begin to fully take root in the real world, the women largely went back inside (or into body bags, in the case of many “Law & Order” plotlines). By the early aughts we were housewives again, real and imagined.

I suspect that a lot of this backlash is connected to the terror that men experienced at discovering that they are less necessary to women’s fulfillment than centuries of laws and stories have allowed them to believe. That terror is abundantly apparent today: From Harrison Butker’s commencement speech suggesting that women may find more fulfillment in marriage and children than in having a career, to the Supreme Court once again debating access to abortion to the push to roll back no-fault divorce laws: All are efforts to return women to a place where others can manage their access to … well, just about everything.

It’s in this light that my enjoyment begins to feel radical. Come fly with me. There’s no fear here.

The Kansas City Chiefs superstar opened up on just how awesome his life is during a sit-down with "Good Morning America" on Thursday ... and while he's becoming one of the most famous athletes around, he said he's not taking any of it for granted.

"I’m so fortunate, so grateful of everything that's come my way in life," the 34-year-old said.

"I feel like I'm on top of the mountain, even after winning the Super Bowl and having the offseason that I'm having. Livin' the dream, baby."

Kelce has definitely evolved into quite the phenomenon on and off the field -- not only is he dating Taylor Swift , he's also getting a ton of new opportunities ... including a role in Ryan Murphy 's "Grotesquerie," an FX horror series that stars actress Niecy Nash .

His show "New Heights" with his brother, Jason , is also topping the charts ... and he recently did a collab with LSU gymnast and social media star Olivia Dunne for Accelerator energy drink.

Kelce was asked how he would rate his life on a scale from 1 to 10 ... and he didn't mind boasting that he feels like it's off the charts -- admitting it's probably a 20 or a 100.

But despite being the biggest guy in sports at the moment, Kelce said it hasn't changed who he is as a person -- even with his personal life (like dating Swift) getting the spotlight all the time.

"When you have good family and friends around you, it makes that aspect of life that much easier," Kelce said.

"I've always been a very grounded guy. It might not come off that way when I'm playing football, but off the field, I just want to be a genuine person."

Kelce -- who became the highest-paid TE in NFL history after inking a $34.25 million extension with KC -- is having a year to remember ... and it's only the first week of June.

Not bad for a kid from Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
