The central characters are Vanitas and Noé , who sit together back-to-back dressed in their sleep clothes in the same way as in Mémoire 55: Après la pluie . The both of them are looking up into the sky, expressions serene and peaceful, as they are bathed in the light of the morning sun peeking out from beyond the clouds above. Behind them is a gilded portrait in the shape of an hourglass; the upper half is of a deep, dark blue stormy sky in the middle of a downpour, and the lower half is of that sky clearing up and the clouds parting to reveal the sun. Droplets of rain fall gently from the sky all around them, like the spilling of tears after a long period of drought. The outlines of golden gears can be seen in the background.

The case study of vanitas.

There once lived a vampire known as Vanitas, hated by his own kind for being born under a full blue moon, as most arise on the night of a crimson one. Afraid and alone, he created the “Book of Vanitas,” a cursed grimoire that would one day take his vengeance on all vampires; this is how the story goes, at least.

Vanitas no Karte follows Noé Archiviste, a young man who is traveling aboard an airship in 19th century Paris with one goal in mind: to find the Book of Vanitas. A sudden vampire attack leads him to meet the enigmatic Vanitas, a doctor who specializes in vampires and, much to Noé’s surprise, an entirely ordinary human. The mysterious doctor has inherited both the name and the infamous text from the Vanitas of legend, using the grimoire to heal his patients. But behind his kind demeanor lies something a bit more sinister…

News The Case Study of Vanitas Manga Takes 2-Month Break

The manga went on hiatus in June 2022, and resumed in May 2023.

Yen Press has been publishing the manga simultaneously in English since its debut, and it describes the first volume:

Rumors revolving around The Book of Vanitas, a clockwork grimoire of dubious reputation, draw Noé, a young vampire in search of a friend's salvation, to Paris. What awaits him in the City of Flowers, however, is not long hours treading the pavement or rifling through dusty bookshops in search of the tome. Instead, his quarry comes to him...in the arms of a man claiming to be a vampire doctor! Thrust into a conflict that threatens the peace between humans and vampires, will Noé cast in his lot with the curious and slightly unbalanced Vanitas and his quest to save vampirekind?

Mochizuki ( Pandora Hearts , Crimson-Shell ) launched the manga in Gangan Joker in December 2015. Square Enix published the 11th volume on April 22.

BONES ' television anime of the manga premiered in July 2021. The anime's second part premiered in January 2022. Funimation streamed the first part, and it also streamed an English dub. Both Funimation and Crunchyroll streamed the second part as it aired, and Crunchyroll also added the first part.

The Case Study of Vanitas manga takes a 2-month break

A brief about the case study of vanitas.

The Case Study of Vanitas is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Jun Mochizuki. It has been serialized in Square Enix's shōnen manga magazine Monthly Gangan Joker since December 2015. In North America, the manga is published in English by Yen Press.

Recently it was announced that the manga will be on a 2-month break. Previously, the manga went on hiatus in June 2022 and resumed in May 2023.

On Friday, 17 May, Square Enix announced that Jun Mochizuki's The Case Study of Vanitas manga will not appear in the June issue of Square Enix's Gangan Joker magazine on May 22, nor will it appear in the July issue on June 21.

Yen Press announced in December 2015 that it would publish new chapters concurrently with Japan. The manga is licensed in Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Poland. The series has been licensed in Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Poland.

BONES' television anime of the manga premiered in July 2021. The anime's second part premiered in January 2022. Funimation streamed the first part, and it also streamed an English dub. Both Funimation and Crunchyroll streamed the second part as it aired, and Crunchyroll also added the first part.

The story of The Case Study of Vanitas revolves around an airship ride to Paris, where the vampire Noé Archiviste meets Vanitas, a human claiming to be a vampire doctor curing them of the malnomen, which causes vampires to behave predatorily against their will.

The book with which he heals, The Book of Vanitas, is connected to the original Vanitas, the Vampire of the Blue Moon, hated by the Vampires of the Red Moon who form the traditional vampire society. Noé and Vanitas join forces to heal vampires, but there lurks a threat of some unknown force named Charlatan, which may be responsible for corrupting the sick vampires.

Yen Press describes the first volume;

"Rumors revolving around The Book of Vanitas, a clockwork grimoire of dubious reputation, draw Noé, a young vampire in search of a friend's salvation, to Paris. What awaits him in the City of Flowers, however, is not long hours treading the pavement or rifling through dusty bookshops in search of the tome. Instead, his quarry comes to him...in the arms of a man claiming to be a vampire doctor! Thrust into a conflict that threatens the peace between humans and vampires, will Noé cast in his lot with the curious and slightly unbalanced Vanitas and his quest to save vampirekind?"

In nineteenth-century France, humans and vampires coexist.

The young vampire Noé is traveling to Paris in search of The Book of Vanitas, which is said to be capable of unleashing a curse upon all vampires.

Crunchyroll describes the anime as;

"On an airship, he finds himself embroiled in a strange incident. It is Vanitas, a human calling himself a vampire expert, who appears before Noé in the ensuing chaos. In Vanitas’s hands is the very book that Noé has been searching for: The Book of Vanitas…

Following this encounter, the curtain is set to rise on this tale of vampires, curses, and salvation…"

Case Study Of Vanitas

Set in 19th-century Paris, Vanitas is full of classic vintage fashion. The mangaka, Jun Mochizuki, has clearly put a lot of thought into the character designs, from Vanitas’ black, extravagant outfit to Noe’s perfectly matched white coat, black undershirt, and vest that pairs excellently with his dark skin. Not to mention Dominique’s breathtaking aristocratic attire.

Every single scene of the series is a feast for fashion lovers. Vanitas is sadly a pretty underrated show, so many fans are not aware of its visual spectacle.

Nana is a beloved cult classic for both rock and roll fans and the LGBT+ community. Ai Yazawa, the mangaka, has a fashion sense still unmatched among her peers in the Shojo Manga genre. Her Goth, punk, and streetwear style makes her a legend in the anime industry.

Since the Manga follows Nana and her band the Black Stones, punk rock fashion and lifestyle are always present elements in the series. Yazawa also has a massive love for Vivienne Westwood, who has greatly influenced Nana’s fashion.

If there’s something the entire anime community agrees on is the amazing character design and fashion in Tite Kubo’s Bleach . Kubo has stated that before he became a mangaka he considered working as a fashion designer, and this is quite evident when looking at the incredible original outfits he frequently draws his characters in.

If there is a Manga synonymous with high fashion it’s Hirohiko Araki’s legendary JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure . Araki is a massive lover of fashion and rock and roll, having many of his characters inspired by either fashion magazines or famous musicians like David Bowie and Prince, two Rock fashion icons.

JoJo’s is also the only Manga to have an official collaboration with Gucci, having Jolyne Kujo, the protagonist of Stone Ocean, as the title character. And Araki has made her the Queen of Anime Fashion. When it comes to style, there’s just nothing like JoJo’s.
