WHAT ARE THE RESULT OF THISKIND OF LEADERSHIP? Evidence of the effect transformational leadership, according to Leithwood, is “uniformly positive.” He cites two findings from his own studies: (1) transformational leadership practices have a sizable influence on teacher collaboration, and (2) significant relationships exist between aspect of transformational leadership and teachers’ own reports of changes in both attitudes toward school improvement and altered instructionl behavior. Segiovanni suggest that student achievement can be “remarkably improved”by such leadership.

EXAMPLES OF STRATGIES TO PRACTICE TRANFORMATIONL LEADERSHIP • Visit each classroom everyday; assist in classroom ,encourage teachers to visit one another’s classes. • Help teachers work smarter by seeking different interpretations and checking out assumptions; place individual problems in the larger perspective of the whole school; avoid commitment to preconceived solutions; clarify and summarize key points during meeting; and keep the group on task but do not impose own perspective.

Use action research teams or school improvement teams as a way of sharing power. Give everyone responsibilities and involve staff in governance functions. For those not participating, ask them to be in charge f a committee. • Find the good things that are happening and publicly recognize the work of staff and students who have contributed to school improvement. Write private notes to teachers expressing appreciation for special efforts.

Survey the staff often about their wants and needs. Be receptive to teachers’ attitudes and philosophies. Use active listening and show people you truly care about them. • Let teachers experiment with new ideas. Share and discuss research with them. Propose questions for people to think about. • Bring workshops to your school where it’s comfortable for staff to participate. Get teachers to share their talents with one another. Give a workshop yourself and share information with staff on conference that you attend.

When hiring new staff, let them know you want them actively involved in school decision – making; hire teachers with a commitment to collaboration. • Have high expectations for the teachers and students, but don’t expect 100 percent if you aren’t also willing to give the same. Tell teachers you wan them to be the best teachers they possibly can be.

Use bureaucratic mechanism to support teachers, such as finding money for a project or providing time for collaborative planning during the workday. Protect teachers from the problems of limited time, excessive paperwork, and demands from other agencies. • Let teachers know they are responsible for all students, not just their own classes.

SPRING HOUSE, Pa. (June 4, 2024) – Johnson & Johnson announced today new clinical and investigational data will be featured across 30 abstracts at the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR) 2024 Congress (Vienna, Austria, June 12-15). Among the accepted data, 21 abstracts and presentations will feature TREMFYA ® (guselkumab) and nine will feature nipocalimab, including a late-breaking abstract on new positive Phase 2 data in Sjögren’s disease.

“It is estimated that one in 10 individuals are living with an immune-mediated rheumatic disease. There is a clear need for additional treatment options that deliver sustained remission for patients,” said Terence Rooney, Vice President, Rheumatology Disease Area Leader, Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine. 1 “The breadth of data to be presented at EULAR underscores our unwavering commitment to advance science and deliver transformational therapies for patients with rheumatic disease.”

About Psoriatic Arthritis Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a chronic, immune-mediated, inflammatory disease characterized by peripheral joint inflammation, enthesitis (pain where the bone, tendon and ligament meet), dactylitis (a type of inflammation in the fingers and toes that can result in a swollen, sausage-like appearance), axial disease and the skin lesions associated with plaque psoriasis (PsO). 2,3,4 The disease causes pain, stiffness and swelling in and around the joints; it commonly appears between the ages of 30 and 50, but can develop at any age. 5 Nearly half of patients with PsA experience moderate fatigue and about 30 percent suffer from severe fatigue as measured by the modified fatigue severity scale. 6 In patients with PsA, comorbidities such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, anxiety and depression are often present. 7 Studies show up to 30 percent of people with plaque PsO also develop PsA. 4 Although the exact cause of PsA is unknown, genes, the immune system and environmental factors are all believed to play a role in disease onset. 8

About Plaque Psoriasis Plaque psoriasis (PsO) is an immune-mediated disease resulting in overproduction of skin cells, which causes inflamed, scaly plaques that may be itchy or painful. 9 It is estimated that eight million Americans and more than 125 million people worldwide live with the disease. 10 Nearly one-quarter of all people with plaque PsO have cases that are considered moderate to severe. 9 Living with plaque PsO can be a challenge and impact life beyond a person’s physical health, including emotional health, relationships, and handling the stressors of life. 11

About Ulcerative Colitis Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic disease of the large intestine, also known as the colon, in which the lining of the colon becomes inflamed and develops tiny open sores, or ulcers, that produce pus and mucus. It is the result of the immune system’s overactive response. 12 Symptoms vary but may typically include loose and more urgent bowel movements, rectal bleeding or bloody stool, persistent diarrhea, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, weight loss, and fatigue. UC patients also have increased rates of depression. 11

About Sjögren’s Disease (SjD) Sjögren’s disease (SjD) is an autoantibody-driven disease for which no therapies are currently approved that treat the underlying and systemic nature of the disease. 13 It is a chronic autoimmune disease that is estimated to impact as many as four million people worldwide, and it is nine times more common in women than men. 14 SjD is characterized by autoantibody production, chronic inflammation, and lymphocytic infiltration of exocrine glandular systems. Most patients are affected by mucosal dryness (eyes, mouth, vagina), joint pain, and fatigue. Extraglandular manifestations are common and may impact multiple organ systems, including joints, lungs, kidneys, and the nervous system. Patients with SjD have a high risk of developing numerous associated conditions, including up to 20 times higher risk of developing B-cell lymphomas when compared to the general population. Disease burden can be as high as that of rheumatoid arthritis or systemic lupus erythematosus. It is usually associated with impaired quality of life and functional capacity. 15,16

About Idiopathic Inflammatory Myopathies Idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM), generally referred to as myositis, are a heterogeneous group of rare, chronic, autoimmune diseases that are characterized by progressive muscle weakness and damage to joints and major organs. 17 It is thought to be caused by an overactive immune system that attacks the body’s own muscles, skin and other organs, but the specific cause of the disease is unknown. 17 The most common symptom of IIM is muscle weakness in the large muscles of the shoulders, neck or hips and can result in difficulty performing typical daily-life activities such as swallowing, walking, driving, climbing stairs, rising from a seated position, turning over in bed and raising arms overhead. 17 It is currently estimated that 5-10 people per million are diagnosed with a type of IIM each year. 17

About Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Lupus is a chronic, inflammatory autoimmune disorder that can affect many different body systems, including joints, skin, heart, lungs, kidneys and brain. 18 Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), the most common form of lupus, can range from mild to severe and is characterized by inflammation of any organ system including kidneys, nervous system, brain or brain vasculature, as well as potential hardening of the arteries or coronary artery disease. 19 The disease most often affects women and disproportionately affects women of African American, Hispanic, Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AAHPI) and Native American descent compared to Caucasian women. 20 Lupus is estimated to affect at least 5 million people worldwide. 21

About TREMFYA ® (guselkumab) Developed by Johnson & Johnson, TREMFYA ®  is the first approved fully-human dual-acting monoclonal antibody that blocks IL-23 by binding to the p19 subunit of IL-23 and binding to CD64, a receptor on cells that produce IL-23. 22  IL-23 is an important driver of the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases. 22  Findings for dual acting are limited to in vitro studies that demonstrate guselkumab binds to CD64, which is expressed on the surface of IL-23 producing cells in an inflammatory monocyte model. The clinical significance of this finding is not known. 23,24,25,26

TREMFYA ® is approved in the U.S., 22,27 and a number of other countries for the treatment of adults with moderate to severe plaque PsO who are candidates for injections or pills (systemic therapy) or phototherapy (treatment using ultraviolet light) and for the treatment of adult patients with active PsA. 22 It is also approved in the EU for the treatment of moderate to severe plaque PsO in adults who are candidates for systemic therapy and for the treatment of active PsA in adult patients who have had an inadequate response or who have been intolerant to a prior disease-modifying antirheumatic drug therapy. 28

About Nipocalimab Nipocalimab is an investigational, high-affinity, fully human, aglycosylated, effectorless, monoclonal antibody that aims to selectively block FcRn to reduce levels of circulating immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies, including autoantibodies and alloantibodies that underlie multiple conditions. 29 Nipocalimab is the only FcRn blocker being studied across three key segments in the autoantibody space: Rare Autoantibody diseases (e.g., generalized myasthenia gravis in adults and children, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, warm autoimmune hemolytic anemia, and idiopathic inflammatory myopathies); Maternal Fetal diseases mediated by maternal alloantibodies (e.g., hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn and fetal and neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia); and Prevalent Rheumatology (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, Sjögren’s disease, and systemic lupus erythematosus). 30,31,32,33,34,35,36,37,38 Blockade of FcRn has the potential to reduce overall IgG including pathogenic alloantibody levels while preserving immune function without causing broad immunosuppression. Blockade of IgG binding to FcRn in the placenta is also believed to prevent transplacental transfer of maternal alloantibodies to the fetus. 39,40

TREMFYA ® is a prescription medicine that may cause serious side effects, including:

• fainting, dizziness, feeling lightheaded (low blood pressure)
• swelling of your face, eyelids, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat
• trouble breathing or throat tightness
• chest tightness
• skin rash, hives
• Infections. TREMFYA ® may lower the ability of your immune system to fight infections and may increase your risk of infections. Your healthcare provider should check you for infections and tuberculosis (TB) before starting treatment with TREMFYA ® and may treat you for TB before you begin treatment with TREMFYA ® if you have a history of TB or have active TB. Your healthcare provider should watch you closely for signs and symptoms of TB during and after treatment with TREMFYA ® .

Tell your healthcare provider right away if you have an infection or have symptoms of an infection, including:

• fever, sweats, or chills
• muscle aches
• weight loss
• warm, red, or painful skin or sores on your body different from your psoriasis
• diarrhea or stomach pain
• shortness of breath
• blood in your phlegm (mucus)
• burning when you urinate or urinating more often than normal

Do not use TREMFYA ® if you have had a serious allergic reaction to guselkumab or any of the ingredients in TREMFYA ® .

Before using TREMFYA ® , tell your healthcare provider about all of your medical conditions, including if you:

• have any of the conditions or symptoms listed in the section “What is the most important information I should know about TREMFYA ® ?”
• have an infection that does not go away or that keeps coming back.
• have TB or have been in close contact with someone with TB.
