  1. Pompeii movie review & film summary (2014)

As much bloodletting as happens in this movie—and there's quite a bit of it before the volcano action (presaged by a lot of building foundational cracks and such) gets underway—the movie is otherwise relentless in its wholesomeness. There's more real depravity on the screen and in the soul of Cecil B. De Mille's 1932 "The Sign of the ...

  6. Pompeii Movie Review

Our review: Parents say ( 2 ): Kids say ( 15 ): Pompeii is set in the Roman city, but doesn't really feel like a historical drama. The gladiator characters provides a reason for scene after scene filled with hand-to-hand combat sequences, and the neighboring volcano justifies some big-scale fire-and-flood destruction.

  8. Ebiri on Pompeii: More Fun Than Any Civilizations Fiery Extinction

  11. Pompeii (2014)

Pompeii (2014) is one of a few movies I didn't inspect properly before watching. And that was a big mistake. This movie has no sense, no story, actions are amateurish, emotions are artificial, dialogues are brainless. We laughed a lot during the movie on how stupid many scenes and dialogues could be. Paul Anderson should really retire.

  13. 'Pompeii' Review

Understandably, the entire first half of the movie focuses on Milo's zero-to-hero storyline, along with establishing all of the key players in Pompeii's core plot - with only minor volcanic rumblings and excessive shots of the mountain to remind filmgoers of the impending disaster.Yet, every single character in Anderson's employ is a hollow cliche - the caring savage, honorable warrior, fiery ...

  17. Pompeii

A pool of water is tinged red by the huge amounts of spilled blood. The relatively frail Cassia is viciously elbowed and punched. Milo's face is slammed into a wall and his back opened by whip lashes. A man's finger is bitten off, leaving a bloody stump. Another man has a broken sword jammed up under his chin.

Pompeii Movie Review. Justin Macumber February 21, 2014. "I'm the king of the wor- OMG! Lava!". 21. Movie Review: Pompeii (2014)

Pompeii, meanwhile, is an utterly generic, clumsy would-be epic that could probably have been made by any old journeyman. Running on low-energy throughout, you would never know this was the director's passion project if not for its clearly massive budget. Critical Movie Critic Rating: 1. Movie Review: Non-Stop (2014) Movie Review: Nurse 3D ...
