Arsenal's triumph against the odds
89 tells the incredible story of one of football’s greatest triumphs: when against all odds Arsenal snatched the Championship title from Liverpool at Anfield in the last minute of the last game of the 1988/89 season. Not biased at all
Most extraordinary league win of all time, any league, any year, and you know what? Any sport. I don't care. I'll never think otherwise (till we do it again)
This was great
I knew what was going to happen, still got goosebumps, and you freakin bet I cried.
RIP to the 96. RIP David.

"It's all up for grabs now!"
Very standard sports doc that is greatly improved by being an Arsenal supporter.
I can't understand why it ends on Thierry Henry interview. I get that he is the greatest player we ever had, but he's not been in the doc up until that point and he was never part of Graham's "boring boring Arsenal". Seems odd. You didn't have an archive interview with Rocky? Or even Dalglish would have made sense.

When I was young I met Michael Thomas and David Rocastle ( and Gazza) in the South of France, I was on holiday and they were playing in the 1988 Toulon Tournament, very nice guys who stopped and chatted with us. A year later they are a big part of one of the greatest endings to a football season ever. I remember watching the game at the time, and seeing the inside story was nice.

Fairly bog standard look at the best ever finish to a league title campaign (don't even talk to me about City). The graphics used were terrible, an annoying static/interference style that makes you wince your eyes the more it's used. Shots of the fashion, music of the time are all a bit eye rolling too. Yes, we know it's the late 80s, it's in the bloody title. Nice introduction of Graham but strange to omit even a mention of the two cup finals in the years before the title winning year that built the momentum in the club. Charlie Nicholas won Graham his first bit of silverware but as far as the doc is concerned he's just a superstar dumped…

My, what a wonderful night. While I wasn’t alive to see this happen, I’ve seen plenty of clips and read up all about it. An incredible documentary, maybe I’m biased, Arsenal are my club, but this film encapsulates the emotion, the drama, the “pandemonium” of that night in 1989. Immediately made me think of Nick Hornby, who actually featured in this, and his film Fever Pitch , a drama where this match was a major plot point.
What makes this game even more spectacular was the problems that surrounded it also; Alan Smith’s potential disallowed goal, the prior traffic that postponed kick off, Bobby Robson covering on punditry, the proximity of the two teams in the table going into this final match of the season.
A marvellous documentary, with exceptional editing, that makes you feel like you are reliving the match in real-time.
RIP Rocky Rocastle† and also to the 96† that lost their lives on that fateful night at Hillsborough.

Straightforward football documentary about Arsenal’s title-winning season in 1989, which saw them beat rivals Liverpool at Anfield and claim the league title with (almost) the very last kick of the season, a game I remember watching so clearly it’s as if it took place yesterday. The emphasis is more on that incredible match than the season on a whole, and perhaps rightly so, given it threw up the kind of ending a Hollywood screenwriter would reject as being too fanciful. Manager George Graham and most of the players are interviewed – one sad notable exception being David Rocastle, who died of cancer at the age of 33 in 2001 – and as you’d expect it’s the ones who have gone…
