Nowadays, most people have little time to socialize with their neighbours. This is happened due to the busy life of individuals which is caused by economic problems they tackle with. This essay cites a few causes and provides some solutions to alleviate this issue.

The main reason for this problem that the public does not know their neighbours is their busy lives. These days, individuals should work hard in order to provide well-fare for their families. For example, in a nuclear family, both man and woman might have a nine-to-five job in order to earn high revenue. On the other hand, there are always traffic jams in metropolitans, especially in rush hours. So employees are stuck in traffic and spend most of their time commuting. As a result, they have no energy to communicate with their neighbours on weekdays, and at the weekends they want to rest and regain their energy to start the week energetically.

However, there are some solutions to make free hours to socialize with each other. Firstly, most countries have some traditional events nations celebrate. People could plan a ceremony to celebrate these special events together. For instance, they could gather in one’s home or if the building has a garden they could meet each other there. In addition, families who have children could let them play with each other and strike a friendship. In this way, the child’s parents meet and get to know others’ parents as well.

In conclusion, economic situations and bustling lives are caused society to have less time to know the next-door families. But there are some suggested ways to rectify it, such as celebrating traditional events together or by allowing their children to strike a friendship.

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

Write about the following topic:

Some parents buy their children a large number of toys to play with.

What are the advantages and disadvantages for the child of having a large number of toys?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Write at least 250 words.

In the past, neighbours formed an important part of people’s social lives and they helped them when they had problems. Nowadays, people often do not even know their neighbours and in consequence, they live much more isolated lives.

There are a number of reasons why we have less contact with our neighbours. Firstly, our lifestyles are more mobile. This means people may change the area where they live quite frequently and this causes their relationships with their neighbours to be more superficial. Secondly, nowadays people often live and work in different places. This leads to people forming closer relationships with work colleagues than the ones they have with their neighbours. Finally, modern lifestyles make us spend more time inside our houses watching television, and when we go out, we travel by car. Consequently, we do not speak to the people in our neighbourhood so much.

There are a number of ways in which I think contact between neighbours can be improved. First of all, local authorities can provide communal areas such as playgrounds for children and community halls so that there are places where neighbours can meet and make friends. Next, I think that when new neighbours come to the street, the people living there ought to introduce themselves and welcome them. Lastly, people living in a street or small district should form neighbourhood associations and meet regularly to discuss the things which affect them.

In conclusion, these suggestions will probably not make neighbours as important in our lives as they were in the past. However, they will help our relationships with our neighbours to become more useful and valuable.

These days, most people do not tend to have close knit communication with their neighbours compared to the old time. Excessive individualism is the root cause behind this development; however, a proper formal community engagement could bring effective results in this issue. Following paragraphs will elucidate this idea in detail.

To begin with, the main reason of people’s reluctance to have relationship with neighbours is the rise of extreme self-centred lifestyle. Now-a-days, people are too busy to meet their own needs and interests. When people have everything that they require, they tend to pursue for more to avail a lavish living. This nuclear mindset is exponentially growing over the generations, and a perspective is breeding that money can buy anything which neither the neighbours nor the relatives can. As a result, people are losing interest in their communities. Previously, when automation and online communication technology was not developed and government services were not up to the mark, people needed neighbours’ assistance with their day-to-day activities. Whereas now, people pay the service fees online to an anonymous helping hand and can get the job done without exchanging even a single talk. This structural change, in other words, this individualistic viewpoint is crowding out the bonding between neighbours.

However, proper community engagement programs could address this issue effectively. To implement this, local authorities can launch neighbours’ connection activities, it could be like people of different skills voluntarily can share their diverse knowledge and experience with their neighbours. For example, parents, who are worried about how to raise their children, can easily get some advice from veterans. Both working and single parents can be incredibly benefited from this approach. These engagements can eventually develop a natural communication among the society members. In addition, occasional local events such as dance, sports and art competition etc. could take place to increase the interaction in a festive mood.
