How to create a retailer / distributor pitch deck

Every consumer products (CPG) brand eventually hopes to be stocked in big-box stores. Direct-to-consumer (DTC) brands are no exception; former online-only products like Casper, Harry’s, and Barkbox are now available in retail locations like Walmart and Target.

For CPG brands looking to expand into retail stores, crafting a compelling distributor pitch deck is a crucial preliminary step. Retail buyers and distribution companies will almost always ask for your distributor pitch deck when you first approach them. The topics in this document will differ from those in your investor pitch deck, so you cannot simply copy and paste what you already have.

Our  team of expert pitch designers  have helped nascent CPG brands win  millions in deals  with leading retailers like Target, Walmart, 7-11, Southern Glazers, and more. In this article, we will discuss how to create the perfect distributor pitch deck:

What is a distributor pitch deck?

The distributor pitch deck is an important tool for CPG brands to get on the shelves of big-box retailers. The goal is to convince retailers to carry the brand’s products and bring them to a wider audience. Retailer / distributor pitch decks highlight the key factors that make the brand stand out, such as target market, go-to-market strategy, product differentiators, traction, and team experience. The deck is usually presented to key decision-makers at retail and distribution companies to prove the value of the brand and its products. A well-crafted pitch deck can be the difference between success and failure when it comes to getting CPG products into retail stores.

Distributor Pitch Deck Template - Photorealistic Mockup

Are you looking to pitch your business to potential retailers or distributors? A pitch deck provides a brief overview of your products in order to convince retailers or distributors to partner with your business. In this article, we will take you through the steps to create a winning retailer / distributor pitch deck that will impress your audience and help you secure the partnerships you need to grow your business.

1. What We Do / Overview Slide

The first slide of your pitch deck should be a high-level overview of what your business does and what problem it solves. This slide should give your audience a clear understanding of the purpose of your business and what sets it apart from others in the industry. Keep it simple and to the point. Highlight the most important aspects of your business and what makes it unique.

2. Product Slide

The product slide should offer an in-depth look into the product or service you are offering. This slide will generally include some photos of your product and a high-level overview of the benefits and differentiators. Be sure to highlight the key features and benefits of your product, and what sets it apart from others on the market.

3. Market Analysis / Target Market Slide

Next, retailers and distributors will want to know who the target customer is for your products. This slide generally takes the form of customer avatar or demographics overview — but you should also include some numbers regarding the size of the market as a whole. Distributors will want to see that there is growing demand and a large consumer base for your products. The market analysis slide should describe the size of your target market, who your target customers are, what their needs / pain points are, and why they will be interested in your product. You should also highlight the competition in the market and why your product is the best solution.

4. Go-to-Market / Channel Strategy Slide

Your distributor pitch deck should demonstrate that you have a robust plan to bring your product to market. The go-to-market strategy is the key to doing so, and generally describes the channels you will use to reach your target market. Be sure to address both growth channels (ie. social media, advertising) and distribution channels (ie. retail partners, eCommerce). If your product is already in-store at big box retailers, this is a great place to highlight their logos or include a map visualizing your geographic retail footprint.

5. Traction Slide

The traction slide is all about showing the progress and success your company has achieved. This should include quantifiable figures such as the number of orders / units sold, revenue generated (and growth rate), as well as any awards or recognition your products have received — along with any other key milestones you have reached. The objective of this slide is to convince potential partners that you are a business on the rise and that they should seriously consider carrying your products.

6. Advantage / Differentiators Slide

The consumer goods (CPG) space is highly competitive, and your product will be pitted against larger brands for shelf space. The advantage slide should speak to what sets your product apart from others in the market. Why will consumers purchase your products over others? Speak to your unique value proposition, secret sauce, proprietary/patented technology, or any other advantage you have over the competition. You should make it clear why your product is the best choice for retailers and distributors in the segment you operate in.

7. Pricing Slide

No distributor pitch deck is complete without a pricing slide. This slide generally includes both wholesale and retail pricing, as well as your cost of goods (COGs) and profit margins. Distributors and retailers will be looking to confirm they can earn a healthy margin by carrying your products.

8. Financials Slide

This slide is important because it shows potential investors and partners that you have a good understanding of your business’s finances. On this slide, you should include information like your revenue, profit, expenses, and projections for the future. If you have a history of strong financial performance, make sure you highlight that. If you’re just starting out, make sure you explain your plan for becoming profitable. Be honest about your financial situation, but also make sure you’re optimistic about the future.

9. Team Slide

At the end of the day, your partners will want to know the people behind the business they are working with. Everyone likes to do business with people they know and trust. The team slide should introduce your team’s roles and experience. This is a great place to speak to the origin story of your business, as well as demonstrating that you have robust in-house capabilities to support national distribution. If your team has any special qualifications (ie. veteran, minority, or female-owned), be sure to highlight these — many companies have supplier diversity requirements to fulfill, which can boost your chances of success.

10. Call-to-Action Slide

Every effective pitch deck concludes with a call-to-action (CTA). This slide should clearly state what an interested partner should do next. Generally, this page will include the contact information for your company’s Head of Sales and/or the founder/CEO. Give the reader an easy way to get in touch with you, like an email address or phone number. Don’t make the mistake of confusing readers with multiple different options — stick to one clear & concise CTA.

Turning away from the West, Russia seeks to strengthen economic ties with the Muslim world

The Russia-Islamic World Forum will begin in Kazan, southwest Russia, on Thursday. The two-day event was first held in 2009 and aims to strengthen economic ties between Russia and Muslim countries. In the wake of a rupture between Russia and the West, these ties are now part of a shifting world order.

Issued on: 16/05/2023 - 14:30

The decision to hold the 2023 edition of the Russia-Islamic World forum in Kazan is symbolic: the capital of Tatarstan, located some 800km east of Moscow, is seen by the Russian state as a successful example of multiculturalism and peaceful religious coexistence.

Russia is home to some 15 million Muslim citizens “in the sense that they belong to ethnic groups with cultural foundations linked to Islam. Not all are believers or practising Muslims,” according to a report from the French Institute for International Relations.

As a whole, Muslims make up 10% of the Russian population, with most living in the Caucasas – the area of land that separates the Caspian and Black Seas – and the Volga-Ural region.

Muslims have lived in Tatarstan, in the Volga district, for centuries and the Tatar population (descended from largely Muslim Turkic ethnic groups ) is Russia’s largest ethnic minority group .

"Tatarstan is one of the richest regions in Russia so also serves as an economic showcase,” says Ivan Ulises Kentros Klyszcz, researcher at the International Centre for Defence and Security in Tallinn, Estonia. “As Tatarstan attracts investments and is a hub for industries it has an image that corresponds very well with Russia’s pragmatic economic approach.”

The forum in Kazan aims to strengthen economic, cultural and intellectual ties between Russia and the 57 member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), an organisation founded in 1969 to represent the “collective voice of the Muslim world” and jointly protect member states’ interests.

Muslim identity

Although Russia is not a full member of the OIC, in 2003, President Vladimir Putin was the first head of state from a non-majority Muslim country to be invited to speak at an OIC summit. Just three years into his first presidency Putin aimed to improve Russia’s image in the Islamic world after wars against Muslim populations in Chechnya (located in the Caucasas) and Afghanistan.

Two years later, Putin scored a diplomatic victory when Russia was admitted to the OIC as an observer state.

“The integration of Russia into the organisation came in the context of new tensions with the US, notably concerning Iraq, and was also a response to Saudi Arabia’s desire to recalibrate its relationship with the US,” says  Igor Delanoë,  Deputy Head of the French-Russian Analytical Center Observo (CCI France-Russia) in Moscow.

It also allowed Russia to claim a sense of belonging in the Muslim world, a position Putin has always been keen to emphasise. The president has historically promoted Russia’s religious and ethnic diversity as a foreign relations tool in order to position the country as a key mediator between West and East.

‘Parallel diplomacy’

In order to maintain influence within Muslim countries, Russia created a “strategic vision group” in 2006, led today by Rustam Minnikhanov, head of Tatarstan. The Arab spring uprisings in the early 2010s saw the group’s work take a backseat but it has increased activities since Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the sanctions from the West that followed.

This initial rupture with the West sparked an increase in economic activity between Russia and the Middle East that both parties welcomed. “Generational shifts among the monarchies in the Gulf States allowed for closer ties – for younger heads of state the wars in Afghanistan and Chechnya belong in the history books,” says Delanoë.

Russian leaders with Muslim backgrounds are often used as diplomatic “messengers” to foster relationships, adds Delanoë. In March 2022, for instance, Minnikhanov met with President Macky Sall on a visit to Senegal.

"This parallel diplomacy is done in a coordinated way, in line with the Kremlin’s political agenda,” says Klyszcz.

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has also taken an active role in building relationships with Gulf states in which shared religious identity plays a key role. In 2018 and 2022, he performed the Haj in Saudi Arabia, meeting with Saudi leadership during both visits.

Fighting ‘side-by-side’

As the war in Ukraine is reshaping international relations around the globe, it is sure to influence the coming summit in Kazan. In Moscow there is a clear intention to refocus strategic and economic partnerships away from the West. In March, the Kremlin released a new foreign policy outlook featuring the word “Islamic” for the first time and stating an intention to deepen ties with Muslim countries, along with countries in Africa and South America.

After the Russia-Islamic World Forum in May, the second ever Russia-Africa summit will take place in St Petersburg in July.

This evolution in foreign policy is part of “a narrative that these countries are important in rearranging the world order” says Klyszcz.

To further drive home the message, Russia has been taking pains to differentiate its foreign policy approach from that of the West. Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergei Lavrov has spoken repeatedly about Western “colonial” attitudes towards the rest of the world, tapping into an undercurrent of discontent with the US, in particular.

“Within the Muslim world, Russia is certainly better perceived than the West, but this positive impression has been exaggerated by propaganda,” says Klyszcz.

Anti-Western sentiment is also contributing to misconceptions about realities in Ukraine, he says. And the presence of a significant number of soldiers from the Caucasas on the ground has helped to create an online narrative of Russia fighting “side-by-side with Muslims”.

‘Undoing gobalisation’

As many countries around the world have been outspoken in their support for Ukraine, others have remained silent, wary of making economic and diplomatic sacrifices in the name of a distant, “imperial” conflict.

Some Muslim countries refused to vote to suspend Russia from the UN Human Rights Council in April 2022, and the Global South has largely opted out of sanctions against Russia decided on by the US and Europe.

It is the Global South that Russia now seems intent on winning over – and the feeling may be mutual.

“The break with Russia may be considered a Western victory in Europe, but in the Global South there is no Western victory. On the contrary, the war is accelerating fragmentation, undoing globalisation and causing regionalisation of strategic blocs and economic ties,” says the French Institute for International Relations report .

“Regional powers are learning from how the West is waging economic war against Russia and are reinforcing their own independence from Western institutions.”

Speech by His Highness the Aga Khan
at the Aga Khan Award for Architecture
 2019 Presentation Ceremony

  • Article: Aga Khan Award for Architecture recognises innovation and excellence
  • Gallery: Aga Khan Award for Architecture 2019

“I believe that we all have a responsibility to improve the quality of life whenever and wherever that opportunity arises.  Our commitment to influencing the quality of architecture - intellectually and materially - grows directly out of our commitment to improving the quality of human life.”

Bismi’l-lahi’r-rahmani’r-rahim

As-salamu ‘alaykum, Peace be upon you

Your Excellency Mintimer Shaimiev

Your Excellency Eleonora Mitrofanova

Respected Members of the Government

Distinguished Guests

What an enormous pleasure it is to welcome all of you to this ceremony.

We gather today with a group of extraordinary people, in an extraordinary place, and for an extraordinary purpose.

The Aga Khan Award for Architecture is organised around a series of three-year cycles - each one culminating in the recognition of our Award recipients.

Tonight we celebrate the outcomes of our Fourteenth Cycle.

This is an extraordinary moment for me as I think back to our decision to launch this programme - more than four decades ago.

What led to that decision?  - You may ask - as many have asked, then and since.  Just why should the Ismaili Imamat become so deeply involved in the world of professional architecture?

The simple answer lies in my conviction that Architecture - more than any other art form - has a profound impact on the quality of human life.  As it has often been said, we shape our built environment - and then our buildings shape us.

This close relationship of architecture to the quality of human experience has a particularly profound resonance in the developing world.  I believe that we all have a responsibility to improve the quality of life whenever and wherever that opportunity arises.  Our commitment to influencing the quality of architecture - intellectually and materially - grows directly out of our commitment to improving the quality of human life.

As you may know, over these  four decades, we have recognised a vast array of architectural contributions, including over nine thousand nominated projects.

But the value of this programme goes far beyond recognising specific projects.

The Aga Khan Architectural Award is not simply a prize; it is a process.

This process involves a wide range of conversations - all across the world - that shape the selection process.

The theme of the Cycle which culminates today is: “ Architecture in Dialogue ”.  This theme, which emerged out of the deliberations of the Steering Committee and Master Jury, sees architecture as a robust interchange, one that can embrace a variety of diverse and even divergent perspectives.

A true dialogue requires not only that we articulate one perspective, but also that we listen – attentively - to other perspectives.  More than that, it asks us not only to listen to one another, but also to learn from one another.

There are several ways in which architecture can blend different perspectives.  Let me briefly describe just four of them,

First of all, we must foster a healthy dialogue among the actual participants in the architectural process.  I don’t mean only the skilled architects themselves, but also those who collaborate with them - clients, community leaders, public officials, educators, and the builders, designers, and craftsmen who help realise their plans.  Our Master Jury for this cycle paid close attention to this dimension, looking at qualities such as leadership, cooperation, and openness - qualities that help produce creative dialogue.

A second dialogue that advances the best in human architecture is an open dialogue between the past and the future. This means more than simply copying the past - or merely tacking some ancient arch or minaret or calligraphy onto a new building. On the other hand, it also means more than a heedless modernistic approach that ignores our rich heritage. Our realisation, more than 40 years ago, that architectural practice in Muslim societies had recently been forgetting its own history, helped us to shape the nature of this Award.

The dialogue we seek is one that will blend the inspiration of the past with the demands of the future. The demands are many: environmental, social, technological, and economic, not to mention the challenges of political polarisation.  In all of these respects, looking back can help us look ahead - and vice versa.

A third dialogue that commands architectural attention is the dialogue between nature on the one hand and human creativity on the other.  Both the natural world and the world of human capacities are divine gifts, but it is tempting sometimes to embrace one without thinking much about the other.

The Holy Quran asks Muslims not to be passive recipients of our Natural Habitat but instead to be faithful stewards of the divine creation; we need to expand our commitment in all directions.  This means not merely conforming to the power of nature, but actively engaging with its challenges.  At the same time we must be careful not to exaggerate the capacities for human mastery – trying to defy nature is counterproductive in many ways.  A reflective dialogue between natural realities and human capabilities is also at the essence of architectural excellence.

Fourth and finally, I would emphasise the importance of intercultural dialogue in meeting the Architectural opportunities of our time.  I have mentioned how this Award grew out of a concern with the deterioration - what some of us called the “hibernation” - of rich Muslim architectural traditions. But honoring one’s own historic identity, should not imply some sort of narrow isolation.

The rich architectural dialogue we seek to foster should include a renewed respect for the rich diversity of Islamic cultures themselves.  As a way to exemplify this concern, we recently opened a new Aga Khan Centre in London in which seven Islamic gardens have been created, reflecting seven different Muslim traditions.

In addition, we should also be working to foster a rich dialogue with non-Islamic cultures - including diverse religious traditions.  Architecture can lead the way in this effort - as we listen to one another and learn from one another across old divides.

Pluralism means more than merely tolerating a diversity of influences and ideas.  It also means welcoming the learning opportunities that diversity provides, finding ways to honour that which is unique in our individual traditions as well as those values that connect us to all of humankind.

We must think of diversity itself as a divine gift, a blessing and not a burden.

I mentioned earlier that we are meeting today in a special place.  Tatarstan has, for centuries, been a place of exceptional commitment to pluralistic values.  The city of Kazan and the larger region have long been renowned for their rich mix of ethnicities, and cultures, including the impressive way in which their architectural heritage has been preserved and respected.

It is striking to realise that nearby Bolgar, which I visited yesterday, became a Muslim religious centre as early as 922 - almost eleven hundred years ago.   Through the centuries the spirit of pluralism in Tatarstan has known times of difficult challenge and times of inspiring renewal.  But through everything, a commitment to inclusiveness has persisted. This spirit was encouraged under the pluralist leadership of several of the Muslim Khanates that governed the area in the 14th and 15th centuries, and also some later Russian rulers, such as Peter the Great and Catherine the Great.  And it has been dramatically evident here in recent years.

On my visits in Kazan, and in Bolgar, I have seen how committed people can honour the power both of cultural identity and cultural pluralism.  It is striking to see how churches and mosques, for example, have been built and preserved right next to one another as powerful symbols of a profound intercultural Dialogue.

I would hope that we all can help point the rest of the world to the powerful pluralistic model of places like Kazan and Bolgar.

The world is in need of such examples.  Human challenges seem to intensify at an accelerating pace these days - climate change, economic and technological inequalities, epidemics, political polarisation, population displacements and the daunting task of helping one another to live together in dignity.

I believe deeply in the potential of the architectural world to help inspire and enrich a creative dialogue in all four of the areas I have mentioned:  a dialogue between creative architectural partners, a dialogue between past and future, a dialogue between natural reality and human creativity, and a dialogue among diverse cultures.

When I first anticipated this visit to Tatarstan - my thoughts went back to other Award presentations through these four decades.  The very first presentations were held in Lahore in Pakistan and I remember expressing my hope that night that these Awards would not be seen as the end of a story but rather as a bold beginning - stimulating further discussion, insights, questions, debates, and “perhaps even more, some worries” – as I put it then - about our architectural future.  And I must say today how pleased I am that my hopes I expressed in Lahore four decades ago have been fulfilled.

The fact that our theme today is built around the word “Dialogue” testifies to our continuing aspirations.  My thanks go to all of you for being a part of this extraordinary celebration - as we reflect, gratefully, on both the inspiring gifts of the past and the rich possibilities of the future.

The National Kidney Foundation’s 2024 Spring Clinical Meetings Late-Breaking Presentation on New Therapy Shows Promising Results for IgAN Patients

DanaR1

(May 14, New York, NY)  – During a late-breaking abstract presentation at the annual 2024 NKF Spring Clinical Meetings (SCM) tomorrow Dr. Dana Rizk, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Medical Center, will present data on the impact and safety of Fabhalta (iptacopan) in the treatment of patients with IgA nephropathy (IgAN) also known as Berger disease. Iptacopan was approved by the FDA in 2023 for the treatment of another disease entity, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria. IgAN is an incurable glomerular disease that can cause chronic kidney disease (CKD) and is a leading cause of end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The presentation entitled, Efficacy and Safety of Iptacopan in Patients with IgAN: Interim Analysis (IA) of the Phase 3 APPLAUSE-IgAN Study will be held at the Long Beach Convention Center, 300 East Ocean Blvd, on Wednesday, May 15 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. (PT).

In the analysis, patients treated with iptacopan in addition to standard supportive care, achieved a 38.3% (p<0.0001) proteinuria reduction (as measured by 24-hour urine protein to creatinine ratio [UPCR]) at 9 months when compared to placebo 1 .) Proteinuria reduction is an increasingly recognized surrogate marker correlating with progression to kidney failure and has been used in IgAN clinical trials to support accelerated approvals 7 . The study also showed that iptacopan was well tolerated by IgAN patients with a favorable safety profile consistent with previously reported data 1,8 .

Quote from Researcher

“In IgAN, part of the immune system called the alternative complement pathway can become overly activated in the kidneys, which causes an inflammatory response, leading to progressive kidney damage and gradual loss of kidney function. The loss of kidney function, together with potential side effects of IgAN treatments available until recently, significantly impact patients’ lives,” said Professor Dana Rizk, Investigator, APPLAUSE-IgAN Steering Committee Member, and Professor in the UAB Division of Nephrology. “Fabhalta is the first potential treatment for IgAN that specifically targets the alternative complement pathway.”

Highlights of the Study

APPLAUSE-IgAN is the first Phase III multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled study to demonstrate significant proteinuria reduction by targeting the complement system in patients with IgAN. This pre-specified interim analysis included 250 patients for the efficacy analysis and 443 for the safety analysis 1 . The APPLAUSE-IgAN study continues in a double-blind fashion until the final analysis of the primary endpoint related to iptacopan's ability to slow IgAN progression by measuring the annualized total estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) slope over 24 months. Those results are expected at study completion in 2025 9,10 .

The two primary endpoints of the study for the interim and final analysis, respectively, are proteinuria reduction at 9 months as measured by UPCR, and the annualized total eGFR slope over 24 months 9,10 . At the time of final analysis, the following secondary endpoints will also be assessed: the proportion of participants reaching UPCR <1 g/g without receiving corticosteroids/immunosuppressants or other newly approved drugs or initiating new background therapy for treatment of IgAN or initiating kidney replacement therapy (KRT), time from randomization to first occurrence of composite kidney failure endpoint event (reaching either sustained ≥30% decline in eGFR relative to baseline or sustained eGFR <15 mL/min/1.73 m 2  or maintenance dialysis or receipt of kidney transplant or death from kidney failure), change from baseline to 9 months in the fatigue scale measured by the Functional Assessment Of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue questionnaire 9,10 .

The main study population enrolled patients with an eGFR ≥30 mL/min/1.73 m 2  and UPCR ≥1 g/g based on a 24 hr urine collection at baseline 9,10 . In addition, a smaller cohort of patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR 20–30 mL/min/1.73 m 2  at baseline) was also enrolled to provide additional information but will not contribute to the main efficacy analyses 9,10 .

“There is a need for effective, targeted therapies for IgAN patients and the detailed Applause-IgAN study gives valuable, promising insights to healthcare providers and patients living with IgAN,” said NKF President Dr. Sylvia Rosas. “The alternative complement pathway has been implicated in the pathogenesis of IgAN, so it gives patients hope that a novel therapeutic intervention may lead to slowing progression of chronic kidney disease and avoiding kidney failure.”

The annual 2024 NKF Spring Clinical Meetings (SCM) will be held in Long Beach, CA from May 14 – 18.

NKF Spring Clinical Meetings

For the past 32 years, nephrology healthcare professionals from across the country have come to NKF’s  Spring Clinical Meetings  to learn about the newest developments related to all aspects of nephrology practice; network with colleagues; and present their research findings. The NKF Spring Clinical Meetings is designed for meaningful change in the multidisciplinary healthcare teams’ skills, performance, and patient health outcomes. It is the only conference of its kind that focuses on translating science into practice for the entire healthcare team.

About Kidney Disease

In the United States, more than 37 million adults are estimated to have kidney disease, also known as chronic kidney disease (CKD) - and approximately 90 percent don't know they have it. About 1 in 3 adults in the U.S. are at risk for kidney disease. Risk factors for kidney disease include:  diabetes ,  high blood pressure ,  heart disease ,  obesity , and  family history . People of Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian American, or Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander descent are at increased risk for developing the disease. Black or African American people are about four times as likely as White people to have kidney failure. Hispanics experience kidney failure at about double the rate of White people.

NKF Professional Membership

Healthcare professionals can join NKF to receive access to tools and resources for both patients and professionals, discounts on professional education, and access to a network of thousands of individuals who treat patients with kidney disease.

Distribution Strategies For Increasing Sales Powerpoint Presentation Slides

With increasing competition, meeting consumers demands in a timely manner and keeping up with the latest trends requires a lot of study and research. One such important aspect for a company is to maintain the right mix of its distribution channels which are important to first understand the consumers needs and expectation and then present them with the right solutions in the most effective manner. Our Distribution strategies for increasing sales template provides you with various distribution strategies your company can use to create a broader customer base. The PPT helps deal with this problem by offering different distribution strategies based on the product type and understanding consumer demand through various distribution intermediaries, wholesalers, retailers, sales representatives, etc. Product-based distribution channels discussed in this module are intensive distribution channels that are used for selling regular or low-value products like bread and cakes in all nearby convenience stores. Moreover, it shows selective distribution channels used for medium-value products like cars or perfumes for which the company hires selected distributors.
