Storyboarding is a flexible tool that students can use to realize their original ideas; it’s not just for filmmakers and animators. Creating a storyboard can help you organize and picture your ideas more clearly when working on a project for class, an art assignment or even a digital presentation.
Students can use them to enhance their storytelling and communication skills, as well as elevate their academic projects and creative minds. Teachers can also use storyboards to create an online course for their students. Here are some simple examples of storyboard examples for students:
Storyboard examples for advertising
Advertising is all about getting people’s attention, conveying an engaging story and motivating them to take action. Some of the most recognizable and successful advertising campaigns you’ve seen use storyboards as their hidden weapon.
Before the cameras start rolling, advertisers can prepare, conceptualize and explain their ideas with the aid of these visual roadmaps.
Storyboards therefore can be used to develop narratives, design images and produce advertising that is memorable and has a lasting impression. Take a look at some examples of advertising storyboards below:
Storyboard examples for short films
Short films are a unique art form. Every frame in it counts in telling a concise and impactful story. The role of storyboards in the production process of a short story cannot be overlooked as they play a pivotal role in the creation of these cinematic gems.
Storyboards help filmmakers in the planning of shots, communication of concepts and realization of their artistic ambitions. Look through some examples below:
Storyboard examples for novels
Have you ever wondered how authors lay out their elaborate plots and characters? Novels immerse us in rich narratives and take us to new realms.
Examples of storyboards for books can be useful in this situation. Authors can organize their literary works using visual narrative strategies, just how filmmakers use storyboards to plot their shots.
Storyboards can enhance storytelling visuals, the writing process and ignite your creative journey, see how below:
All storyboards contain the same information, regardless of whether they are hand-drawn or computer-generated. To give a better idea of what a video should look like, here are the essential elements that should be found in a storyboard:
- Title: The title of the project, the date it was made and other pertinent project details should all be included in the storyboard.
- Panel number: To ensure that the story progresses logically, each page of the storyboard needs to be numbered and the panels need to be placed in the appropriate order.
- Images/drawings: A storyboard’s primary function is to visually represent the action or scenario. Sketches, drawings, photos or any other visual representation that expresses what will appear on screen or in the finished product can be used for this.
- Shot description: Each panel is accompanied by captions or descriptions that give crucial information about the scene’s events. Characters, actions, camera angles and other pertinent visual components are all covered.
- Camera directions: Camera directions may be included for projects in cinema, television or video to help the camera operator. This may entail defining the camera’s movement, framing and angles.
- Dialogue and sound: If the project includes spoken or written text, dialogue or text identifying the speaker and what they are saying or writing should be included in or close to the panels.
- Transitions: Transitions between shots or scenes are frequently noted in the storyboard during the creation of movies and videos. Cuts, fades, dissolves and other visual transitions are examples of this.
- Notes and comments: To give context, explanations or instructions to the production crew, additional notes or comments may occasionally be included. To draw attention to certain requirements or details, utilize these.
- Timing and duration: The length of each shot or scene can sometimes be specified, which aids in determining the project’s pacing and timing.
- Props and wardrobe: The production team will be more likely to understand the precise visual elements needed for each scene if objects and clothing are included in the storyboard. To ensure a coherent and aesthetically pleasing final product, it also helps with collaboration between the costume department and the art department.
- Special effects and VFX: If necessary, special visual effects instructions for CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery) or real-world effects can be added.
If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll already know that storyboards aren’t just for the big screen or TV shows. That being said, let’s talk about all the different places where you can put those storyboarding skills to work.

How to create an effective storyboard?
To create an effective storyboard, start by defining your project’s objectives and developing a clear script or narrative. Choose the appropriate storyboard format, such as digital or traditional and sketch each frame, paying attention to composition and annotations. Review and revise your storyboard based on feedback to ensure it effectively conveys your story and visual elements.
For more tips on how to ace your storyboard, check out our detailed guide on how to make a storyboard .
What is the best format for a storyboard?
The project at hand and your personal preference will determine the ideal format for a storyboard. Traditional panels, template sheets, computer software, cards and more are examples of common formats. Whether it’s for a video, a design or other creative activity, pick the format that best meets your project’s requirements.
How do you write a storyboard script?
Writing a storyboard script involves creating concise descriptions and dialogue for each panel or frame in the storyboard. Identify scenes, add descriptions, include dialogue, maintain clarity, organize sequence panels and include notes. Ensure to review and revise all that you have.
Do storyboard examples replace scripts?
Storyboard examples do not take the role of scripts. By giving a visual depiction of the events and actions outlined in the script, they support scripts. Storyboards help designers, creators and filmmakers in visualizing how the story of the script will appear on the screen or in their creation.
While storyboards improve the planning and visualization process, the script still serves as the basis for language, character interactions and storytelling.
Are there any industry standards for creating storyboards?
Storyboard creation is not subject to any rigid industry guidelines. However, there are standard procedures and directives that experts in many different industries, like design, advertising and filmmaking follow.
These techniques include employing panels that are clear and in order, including captions or descriptions and making sure the storyboard conveys the intended visual narrative. Depending on the requirements of the project and the preferences of the creator, the precise format and specifics may change.
How detailed should a storyboard be?
Depending on the requirements of the project and the preferences of the creator or team, a storyboard’s level of depth may change. Storyboards can often be very explicit, with specific camera angles, shot compositions and visual components.
In other cases, they might be simpler, emphasizing the main characters’ actions and narrative arcs. To successfully communicate the required visuals while allowing for creative flexibility, a balance must be struck.

Storyboard examples for presentations
Get your team on prezi – watch this on demand video.
Anete Ezera February 20, 2024
Imagine a storyboard as your project’s first draft, but instead of words, it’s full of pictures. It’s a visual plan that shows what every part of your video or film will look like, scene by scene. Think of each sketch on the storyboard example as a snapshot from your upcoming project, complete with notes about what’s happening and any important dialogue or camera moves.
Storyboards aren’t just for filmmakers or media purposes though; everyone can use them. They’re great for getting your message across clearly. Whether you’re a writer, salesperson, or teacher, storyboards can help you share information effectively. They’re versatile and useful for anyone looking to communicate ideas easily.

We’ll also discuss why Prezi is a great platform for turning presentations into visual stories for maximum engagement.
Why are storyboards so important?
- Preview your project: A storyboard lets you see your project before it’s brought to life. It’s a great way to check if your story flows visually and to make sure your shots will look just as good in reality as they do in your imagination.
- Visual communication: Storyboards let professionals tell their stories using pictures and graphics, which can be more memorable and impactful than just words. With images and visuals, storyboards make it easier for people to understand and remember information.
- Plan with precision: In film, a storyboard example can help you figure out the specifics, like where to film, what props you’ll need, and who should be on set. They also help with the technical side, like picking the right camera angles.
- Keep everyone aligned: Think of a storyboard as a universal language for your project team. It ensures that everyone, from the director to the design team, understands the vision and direction of your project.
- Avoid costly mistakes: By identifying potential issues through your storyboard example, you can save time, effort, and money when it comes time to put your plans into action. It’s all about being one step ahead.
- Streamline editing: With a storyboard, you get a preview of how scenes will transition, which helps with the overall rhythm and pacing of your story.
- Clear structure: Storyboards help educators and professionals organize complex ideas clearly and logically, making it easier for students or team members to understand.
- Informed decision-making: In business, storyboards present options and scenarios visually, helping decision-makers evaluate choices more effectively.
- Efficient workflows: Storyboards streamline academic planning and business processes, providing a visual roadmap for tasks and timelines, leading to smoother execution and delivery.

If a student needs to make a storyboard about the water cycle, they could structure their project by using each slide to convey a different point, showcasing the cycle’s stages and human interaction with water. Here’s a storyboard example about the water cycle:
- First slide: Introduce the topic with a captivating image of the Earth, highlighting the presence of water in various forms. This sets the stage for exploring the water cycle, with a brief overview stating, “Embark on the journey of a water droplet through the water cycle.”
- Second slide: Detail evaporation using visuals of the sun heating bodies of water, causing water to rise as vapor. This section explains how water transforms from liquid to gas, with a note: “Evaporation: The sun’s warmth turns water into vapor.”
- Third slide: Show condensation through images of clouds forming. Here, the student can describe how water vapor cools and condenses into liquid, forming clouds, with a simple explanation: “Condensation: Cooling water vapor turns back into liquid in the clouds.”
- Fourth slide: Illustrate precipitation with rain or snow falling from clouds onto the Earth. This part emphasizes the process of water returning to the ground, with the text saying, “Precipitation: Clouds release water as rain or snow, completing the journey from sky to earth.”
- Fifth slide: Highlight the collection of water in rivers, lakes, and oceans, where all precipitation gathers, ready to start the cycle over. A concise description could be: “Collection: Water flows back to large bodies, ready to evaporate again.”
- Sixth slide: Address human interaction, showing how we use water for agriculture, drinking, and industry, and underline the importance of conservation with a message like, “Humans and the Water Cycle: Our role in using and protecting water.
By using each slide to convey these points, the student can create an engaging storyboard on Prezi, making the water cycle easy to understand and visually appealing. You can use ideas from this storyboard example for your next project.
Storyboard examples for film
If a filmmaker needs to create a storyboard for a short film project, they could organize it by dedicating each slide to show different key scenes and parts of the film’s narrative. Here’s a structured storyboard example:
- First slide: Introduce the protagonist and the setting. Feature an image of the main character, Alex, in their city environment with the caption, “Alex, a young aspiring musician, seeks inspiration amidst the city’s hustle.”
- Second slide: Highlight the inciting incident. Illustrate Alex discovering an old, enchanting music shop with a note, “A mysterious music shop draws Alex in, promising a journey of discovery.”
- Third slide: Detail the story’s progression. Show Alex finding a unique instrument that speaks to him, alongside a description, “A forgotten guitar with a rich history becomes Alex’s muse.”
- Fourth slide: Capture the climax or a significant turning point. Depict Alex performing passionately in an unconventional venue, summarized as, “Alex’s performance under a bridge, transforming the city’s noise into a symphony.”
- Fifth slide: Show the resolution. Present a reflective moment for Alex, with a view of the city skyline behind, and the words, “Alex’s music now weaves through the cityscape, a testament to his growth and inspiration.”
- Sixth slide: Conclude with a thematic or reflective shot. Consider a panoramic city dawn scene, indicating a new beginning, with the caption, “As dawn breaks, the city vibrates with the echoes of Alex’s guitar, heralding a new musical era.”
By organizing the storyboard into slides, a filmmaker can visually and textually map out the film’s journey in Prezi. This slide-based approach allows for a dynamic presentation, showcasing the story’s development from the introduction of the character and setting to the climax and resolution, providing a visual guide for what the film will entail.
Storyboard examples for websites
Creating a storyboard for a website design project involves outlining the user journey, key features, and the overall layout of the site. Each slide of the storyboard can be dedicated to a different section of the website, providing a visual guide for the development process. Here’s a storyboard example for a website project:
- First slide: Introduction to the website. This slide is where you would outline the main purpose of the website and who it’s intended for. For example, a cooking blog that offers recipes from around the world for people who enjoy cooking at home.
- Second slide: Homepage overview. Here, you can describe the homepage layout, including essential elements like the navigation menu, highlighted recipes, and a search feature to easily find recipes.
- Third slide: Recipe page details. This slide focuses on the structure of individual recipe pages. It should include sections for the list of ingredients, step-by-step cooking instructions, and a comment section for readers to share their thoughts.
- Fourth slide: Interactive features. This slide can be used to talk about any interactive elements you plan to include, such as quizzes to suggest recipes based on taste preferences or tools for planning meals.
- Fifth slide: Mobile design. It’s important to ensure the website is accessible on various devices. This slide will show how the website’s design adjusts for a user-friendly experience on smartphones and tablets.
- Sixth slide: About and contact information. This part covers the layout and content of the About and Contact pages. It’s where you can share the backstory of the blog and provide a simple way for visitors to get in touch.
- Seventh slide: Design mockups. The final slide presents mockups of the website’s key pages, giving a clear visual of what the website will look like once it’s developed.
By organizing the storyboard into these clear, straightforward slides, you can methodically plan the website’s layout and features. This approach ensures that the final website will be well-organized, look appealing, and easy to navigate for people of all ages.

It’s perfect for laying out your main ideas at the start and then going deeper into each one. With Prezi, you can zoom in on specific parts instead of just clicking on the next slide. This zooming feature makes your presentations more engaging and is great for sharing storyboards in a way that grabs attention.
Whiteboard-themed lesson plan template
This presentation template, with its sticky note and whiteboard theme, is great for storyboard presentations. It lets teachers break down lessons into sections, each telling the next part of the story. This approach turns complex topics into engaging stories, making it easier for students to follow and understand. By presenting information in a clear sequence, students are more likely to stay interested and remember the lessons.
Real storyboard examples made with Prezi
With Prezi’s versatile platform, it’s easy to turn any presentation into an interesting storyboard with the help of Prezi’s advanced features and tools. Here are some storyboard examples that real users have created.
Storyboard example #1: the 20 new leadership books for 2020
This Prezi , based on Adam Grant’s selection of leadership books for 2020, is a good storyboard example and showcases how to turn a presentation into a story. Adam organizes the books around themes such as problem-solving and relationships, guiding the audience through each topic like chapters in a story. The presentation uses Prezi’s capabilities to zoom and pan between sections, making the journey through the content interactive and smooth. This storytelling approach helps break down complex ideas into an interesting narrative, keeping the audience interested and making the information stick. It’s a clear example of how presentations can be more than just slides, transforming them into dynamic stories that captivate and educate.
Storyboard example #2: coffee time
The “Coffee Time” presentation created using Prezi is a storyboard example of the evolution of coffee. It takes you on a journey from where coffee began to how it has changed over time. It’s laid out like a timeline, so it’s easy to follow along, just like reading a story. Each part of the timeline tells you something new about coffee, like where it came from and how it became popular. This way of presenting information like a storyboard makes it simple for anyone to understand, so the message can resonate widely.
Storyboard example #3: 100 years of geological mapping in the Netherlands
This is a great storyboard example because it takes the audience on a journey through time, just like a story would. Starting in 1844 and spanning to 2018, each section of the presentation explains how geographical mapping has evolved over the years. It’s set up like chapters in a book, where each chapter reveals new developments and changes in mapping technology and practices. This storytelling format makes it easy for the audience to follow along and understand the progression of geographical mapping in the Netherlands. It’s like reading a history book, but with maps and pictures to help illustrate the changes over time.
Try a new approach to your presentations using inspiration from Prezi storyboard examples
Embracing a storyboard approach in your presentations offers a powerful way to connect with your audience, regardless of your background or profession. Whether you’re a teacher planning your next lesson or a business professional aiming to engage corporate clients, storyboards provide a simple yet effective way to convey your message.
Storyboards ensure that your audience remains attentive and engaged throughout by simplifying complex ideas and keeping things clear. Take inspiration from the storyboard examples discussed and consider implementing this approach in your next Prezi presentation. So, whether you’re sharing stories in the classroom or pitching ideas in the boardroom, let the storyboard be your guide to impactful communication.

1. Concept Video Storyboard Example: Virgin Orbit – Space Exploration
The first project is related to Virgin Orbit’s LauncherOne system that aims to connect rural communities to monitor global climate change. In short, the company within a company plans to provide launch services for small satellites. Clémence Thune is the art director and illustrator for the concept video and we can see how beautifully crafted illustrations transition into a well-planned final video.

2. Animation Storyboard Example: Bat Nan (She-Kings)
Bat Nan is a 2D animated short film by DeeDee animation studio as part of the project She-Kings that has 6 short films and one live-action movie in total. Below, the storyboard features an entire fighting scene made in amazing details by the 2D animator and character designer Huy Hoang Ha. Most of the thumbnails make it into the final product and look mesmerizing.

3. Awareness Campaign Storyboard Example: Ahl Masr Hospital
The next concept is a campaign aiming to engage the adult audience and spread awareness of how serious burns victims need care as fast as possible. This highlights the first 6 hours as the most important in saving the lives of burn victims. The series collaborate with AHL MASR, the 1st hospital of its kind in Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa that offers free treatment to trauma and burn victims. Many artists have worked on the vision to create a campaign and emotionally engaging video series.
For example, here we can see the storyboards from the copy that is telling the story of a father who forgets to turn off the heather and falls asleep. Unfortunately, the apartment catches on fire and endangers the life of his son. Even the rough sketches from the storyboard hold pretty strong emotions from the very start.

4. Explainer Video Storyboard Example: AZA
The creator Dinos&Teacups has a very rich gallery of storyboards and entire concepts for explainer videos. However, this one we enjoyed the most so we instantly handpicked it as a great storyboard example. Unlike most of the examples, the sketches here aren’t that detailed and painted and they don’t need to be. Consequently, despite their simplicity, the panels are clear in what they want to indicate and accurately translate into the final video, as you can see in the gifs.
The project itself, AZA (A-Z Atlas) is a concept for a two-way matching system for sellers and buyers.

5. App Trailer Video Storyboard Example: Salon Life
Meanwhile, Salon Life is an app for beauty salon owners to focus on generating more repeat business and saving time with their daily routine. Benoit Drigny is the illustrator, thanks to whom we have this exemplary storyboard that later translates into illustrations and still frames before making it to the final trailer video.

6. Short Story Video Storyboard Example: Château Noir
The author explains Chateau Noir as the transposition of a fairy tale and a metaphor for something else: an intense quest accompanied by fear, joy, death, and the unknown. Indeed, the still shots form this journey and tell a story within a dream.
Château Noir by Thomas Dubois
Unfortunately, as much as we want to see the final video and enjoy the beautiful story, the project hasn’t be completed yet. All we currently have is this atmospheric teaser.
7. Story In Picture Storyboard Example: Little Things We Can’t Do During a Quarantine
Next, this a personal project of the illustrator and picture book maker Marc Majewski who had found a way to give color to his daily routine during the quarantine through a series of illustrations. The pictures tell the story of little things we all love doing but can’t do during a quarantine. On a positive note, these are also the things we will all enjoy doing once it’s all over.
Accordingly, the rough pencil sketches later become a beautifully crafted story in pictures.

8. Commercial Video Storyboard Example: Porsche Taycan Official Commercial
Adonis Alcici created around 100 scenes for the entire storyboard for the Porsche Taycan Launch (Brazil) commercial you’ll see below.

The illustrator has shared some of the sequence artworks that made it to the commercial, and he also compares them to the final still shots. A perfect example of the creation of a commercial with the use of storyboarding in pre-production.
9. App Video Storyboard Example: Interconnect
Another example of app-video planning comes from the Ukrainian concept artist GARRA with his thumbnail storyboard. Interconnect is an app that helps you find a route from point A to point B and set a departure and arrival date and time. As a result, the final video shows the stories of friends always find a way to each other as time and distance don’t really matter.

10. Music Festival Commercial Storyboard Example: Red Bull Music Academy
Storyboard Red Bull Music Academy by Bruno Mangyoku
Red Bull is famous for its fun highly-visual commercials that tell stories without dialogues. In this case, we have a short announcement film for the Red Bull Music Academy festival from September 2016, Paris. Bruno Mangyoku creates the storyboards, script, and overall design and direction of the movie.
11. Art Concept Video Storyboard Example: Fold- The Beginning
Fold: The Begining is a short movie that shows the creation of the world according to Norse Mythology. Gosia Tekieniewska created this art video as a complementary part of a Master’s Diploma project in the style of moving illustration. Moreover, she also shares that during the making of the storyboard for the film, she treated each keyframe as a book spread.

12. TV Commercial Photography Storyboard Example: Barilla Bio TV
Storyboard Barilla Bio TV by Simone Bramante and Cinzia Bolognesi
Some storyboards consist of photos instead of drawings. In this case, with the Barilla pasta commercial for TV in Italy, the photographer Simone Bramante and the illustrator Cinzia Bolognesi face the challenge to create a short story about organic pasta and tomato sauce. 10 seconds of pure appetite- boosting bliss.
13. Advertising Storyboard Example: Nike Vapormask
Storyboard Nike Advertising by Laura Martinez and Giulia Tornello
Also, we see how sketches and drawing on storyboards plan the exact photoshoots for a commercial, shot by shot. In fact, they predict the sequence, composition, and even color schemes. The Nike Vapormask project was planned and executed by Laura Martinez and Giulia Tornello. The two creators also feature inspirational mood boards fr the neon colors and overall vibe of the commercial.
14. Comicbook Storyboard Example: Pizza Hut Marvel
Pizza Hut promotional comic books have been around for decades. In the same way, this cool project by Léo Chiola and James Swift is a nice throwback with a more modern looking style.

15. UX Explainer Video Storyboard Example: The Sales Matrix
Explanation videos are really hard to make as they need to compress huge amounts of data and present it in a short and in an interesting and visually-appealing way. Therefore, the next example is an infographic video that explains a sales Matrix concept through motion graphics animation. The Explainer Geeks offer their storyboard essential for the final video.

16. Example of Conceptual Storyboard
This storyboard design isn’t for a specific project, but it shows the beauty and creativity that the pre-production process offers. It’s a well-crafted story in detail with atmosphere, motion, lots of emotion, and depth and it can become everything from a comic book to a short movie. In other words, it’s an idea by Vipul Mali that he wants to share with the world.

17. 3D Action Animation Storyboard Example: Detained
Detained is a 3D animation project that the author Orfenn Schuller shares via a very detailed storyboard frame by frame. Also, when we scroll through the panels, it feels as if we’re watching the entire scene animated.
Storyboard Detained by Orfenn Schuller
In this example, we also see the focus of each frame alongside the motions of the camera, indicated by red arrows.

18. App UX Storyboard Example: Off Bucket App
The Off Bucket app project by Sara Eldebissy offers users personas, user stories, key user flows, and wireframes, but we’ll focus on the UX storyboard as it’s a good example of how you can explain user interaction with a certain product. Therefore, the panels follow the character who gets an idea for a challenge and adds his friends, who accept and do the challenge.

19. Historical TV Series Storyboard Example: MBC TV
These detailed illustrated panels spread through a storyboard dedicated to an episode from tv-series for a channel MBC TV. In addition, the studio Xpanse CGI works with Warner brothers, Dark Horse, and Microsoft.

20. Hair Product Commercial Storyboard Example: Hairburst
Last, a very creative concept for a hair product commercial by Nikki Wong. The panels reveal the story of two characters that try to steal a bag of gold, however, they meet a gang of thieves and have to use their secret weapon to prevail: hair. Of course, the commercial makes sure to reveal the reason behind the character’s strong hair in the end.

How to storyboard a presentation for maximum results
In our blog post Award Winning Presentations we mentioned the importance of the step to storyboard a presentation before you start to design your PowerPoint slides. In this article we look further at how to storyboard a presentation and why storyboards are so important. Let’s get started on yours.
A storyboard is a vital part of the presentation planning process:
- It forces you to focus on the content of your presentation before you get sidetracked with the design
- Following a storyboard layout can highlight any gaps of information or repetition
- Using a storyboard allows you to check that your presentation flows logically and is easy to understand
- You can easily edit and rearrange your slides quickly
The best way to storyboard a presentation:
Always start with a call to action:.
First, you need to plan what you want your audience to do, to learn, to act on or to take away. That’s a call to action. Write it down twice on post-its or a bit of paper. You’ll want to have this as a slide near the start and also at the end of your presentation.
Key messages make up the structure:
Want a presentation with a winning story that keeps people listening?
Leave it to the experts!
We have a proven track record of presentations with engaging narratives that keep audiences listening from start to finish.
In the meantime…play around with the order:
One method is to start off by drawing a grid; each box in the grid represents a slide. In your grid you can add headlines that explain your message. Include your key messages and your call to action (twice) in this grid. Think about both the content and the structure here. What story do you want to tell your audience? How are you going to tell it so that your audience understands as well as remembers it?
You may find it helpful to write on Post-its and stick these to the grid, that way you can easily re-order if necessary. Different coloured markers may also be useful. Or you can use slide sorter view in PPT: but don’t start designing yet! Or you can use shapes with heading text on one slide laid out in a grid: something to move around easily if necessary.
Check the narrative flow:
Before getting too involved with the nitty gritty details, step back and read your headlines alone. Do they flow from slide to slide and tell a story? Do they involve the audience and draw them in? Does it feel relevant to your audience members?
When you have an idea of what headlines are going in each box you can start to fill the gaps with supporting information. If the content doesn’t back up or prove one of your key messages, then maybe it’s not relevant. Or maybe your key messages aren’t quite right.
Try not to fill each slide with lots of bullet points. Get creative and come up with some visuals that represent your main points. Visuals will help your audience to understand your message and will be more memorable. Those visuals should work as a memory aid also to help you recall your content: you don’t need text prompts to remember everything. And you certainly don’t need the audience reading these text prompts on the slide.
Only once you have a storyboard can you make sure you have covered everything, and get an idea of what your presentation is going to look like.
Now you are ready to open PowerPoint and start building your slides! Or…
Yes, you know: leave the slide design work to Presented .

How to create clean PowerPoint slides
One of the simplest ways to transform your presentations from heart-sink to happy is to keep your slides clean of unnecessary words and data. TIP 1: Make one, simple statement on each slide and use the remaining “space” for a visual that explains and clarifies. And that’s it. No more tips.
Why you shouldn’t read from your PowerPoint slides
A classic mistake presenters make, is to pack their slides full of words, which they then read to the audience. Unless your audience is very young indeed, they can read for themselves. Reading to them can be seen as annoying and slightly insulting.
Make the most of your presentation hand-out!

Can flexible working increase productivity?
The current office environment – typically getting to the office at 9am, staying til 5.30pm, working in an open-plan office, and spending most of the day sitting still – is about the least productive environment we could possibly create. That’s according to scientific research…
Get your PowerPoint visuals right: get creative!
Visuals are powerful - get them right! The danger, if you use an irrelevant or inappropriate visual, is that it will distract and confuse – basically doing more harm than good. Rather than adding depth and clarity, the wrong visual could send your audience wandering off on a completely unrelated trains of thought.
How many slides is best for a presentation?
If you need advice on how many slides you should have in your deck. Think about it from an engagement point of view. Audiences would rather see 30 light slides that you move through quickly (keeping things more interesting for them), than 10 slides that are chock full of data and that don't seem to ever move on... Don't fear the count. Fear what's on them!
How much do people remember from a presentation?
There have been various studies conducted on this, and the most generous results we’ve seen are as follows: Immediately after the presentation, the audience remembered 50% of what was said By the next day, the audience remembered 25% A week later, the audience remembered just 10%
Using stories in PowerPoint boosts memory (part 1 of 2)
Structure your PowerPoint presentations with stories and your audience is more likely to follow, understand and remember your message – and they’re more likely to enjoy it too!
Harness the power of Stories in presentations to help audiences recall your presentation (part 2 of 2)
Start your presentation with a story about how a certain problem is relevant. Ideally this is a problem that affects your audience, this way you grab attention and engage with emotions immediately. Using further anecdotes and stories throughout brings each point more vividly to life.
How do you make PowerPoint more visual?
If your presentation is full of slides packed with bullet points and blocks of text, your audience’s attention will drift and you risk losing them, perhaps for good. A picture is worth a thousand words. So we must make PowerPoint more visual. Visual information is 3 times easier to remember than spoken info.

How to storyboard a PowerPoint presentation.
Before you start on your first slide, grab a pencil and get storyboarding. Perfect planning is the key to a perfect presentation, one that’s focused and flows. This is how to storyboard a presentation.
What do you mean you’ve never storyboarded before? Call yourself creative? That’s okay; lots of people have never made a presentation storyboard. For some reason movies, comic books and websites are all commonly storyboarded, and yet when it comes to PowerPoint, most people skip the creative part and jump straight to slide one.
In doing so, you’re missing out on a crucial part of the creative process, one where key ideas are formed. It’s here, before a single bullet point has been committed to screen, that you can link overarching concepts, ponder what’s in it for the audience and view the bigger picture. With a pencil and a piece of blank paper in front of you, it’s easy to join the dots, scribble them out and then join them again in a different order. If you need convincing of the power of storyboarding, check out this primer from the creators of Toy Story. You’re not Pixar, but you’ve still got your own story to tell, one that deserves the best possible start in life.
A short guide to storyboarding
The trouble with working directly in the PowerPoint slide deck is that it’s a very linear process, one that’s hardly conducive to promoting free-flowing ideas. Sure, if you’re delivering a 10-minute presentation outlining your company’s fire safety procedure, storyboarding might be overkill, but for everything else, this is a critical stage in the process, one that’s far more important than the size of your subheadings or the style of your transitions .
There’s another reason why a presentation storyboard should be the first thing you do: it’s fun. This is the stage where ideas flow like a bowl of Ben and Jerry’s left on the coffee table overnight. At this part of the process, no notion is too whacky and no concept is too out there. You’ll need to reign in some of the more outré ideas later, but at this stage you’re free to run amok.
Where do your best ideas come to you? It could be on a long walk, in a favourite coffee shop or in the shower. You can actually buy showerproof markers that will enable you to storyboard your ideas straight onto the wall. If you’re creating a team presentation however, convincing your entire marketing department to join you in there could be awkward.
No, all things considered, far better to take those inchoate ideas – wherever they occur to you – and then flesh them out in the office. At this stage though, we’d encourage you to keep the storyboarding strictly offline. There’s something about grasping a humble pen or pencil that appears to help ideas form naturally – there’s actually evidence to back this up.
How to create a PowerPoint presentation storyboard
A presentation is made up of two complementary elements: graphics and text, and at the storyboarding stage you’ll get to dabble in a bit of both. It doesn’t matter if your sketching skills are woeful – that’s what the eraser was invented for and besides, your audience won’t be seeing your lamentable attempts at drawing your company logo. This part of the creative process is done for your benefit, even if your audience will be the ultimate beneficiaries of the work you’ve put in here.
Start by writing down your headlines. These are your key themes or ideas. Don’t worry about the order you put them down on page; you can link them later with arrows. Right now, it’s just about capturing some of those ideas floating around in that big brain of yours. Next, assign each idea its own box. Some of these ideas will require multiple slides to be fleshed out, but at this stage one box per key idea is ideal. You can then append secondary and tertiary boxes to these as required.
At this stage, you’re the mad inventor and this is your baby, so don’t worry if things get a little messy; the main thing is that you know what’s going on amidst the organised chaos. The orderly stuff comes later. Instead of using a single piece of paper, some people prefer to use a series of post-it notes that can be easily shuffled. As you start to storyboard, there are two guiding principles do keep in mind: what do you want to say, and what would your audience like to hear?
You don’t have to be a people pleaser; unless you’re a comedian, your mandate extends to more than merely entertaining your audience. Nevertheless, it pays to consider the final recipients of the slides that currently exist as little more than a series of scribbles on your desk. It’s your presentation, but they’re the ones whose response will determine whether it’s a success or failure. A well storyboarded presentation will strike a balance between conveying the ideas of its creator whilst factoring in the needs of its audience.
After you’ve completed your first draft and the torrent of ideas has slowed to a trickle, take a step back and look at the spider’s web mess you’ve created. Your brain made that. Pretty cool, huh? Okay, now it’s time to reorder, redraw and revise at will until your ideas have been formed into some kind of cohesive narrative .
Now and only now are you ready to switch on your monitor, power up Microsoft Office and focus on what really matters: deciding whether to use subtle transitions or dynamic ones.

ABOUT THESE STORYBOARD EXAMPLES
Storyboards force creative filmmaking.
Ever had a great idea for a shot or perhaps an entire scene? Everything is visualized perfectly in your mind, but will it make it to the screen?
What you need is a storyboard. Storyboards are what professional filmmakers and production companies use to clearly communicate visual ideas with their team. Cavemen used storyboards. The Ancient Egyptians used storyboards.
Bottom line: Storyboards work.
While some of the reasons storyboards work so well may seem painfully obvious, there are more nuanced rationales that many novice (and professional) filmmakers tend to overlook.
You may not have a huge budget, so naturally, you think you’re limited. That line of thinking can be harmful to your project because what you’re actually doing is limiting your creativity, which in turn limits the effectiveness of your vision, which in turns limits your project.
Don’t waste valuable energy thinking about limitations. Take that energy and create storyboard ideas for your scene. Make sure to spend some time sketching out your storyboard ideas, even if they're just as samples. You’ll often hear the suggestion to:
“Draw your storyboard ideas with stick figures if you’re not an artist.”
I strongly disagree.
I firmly believe that you should take your time drawing an ugly storyboard because then you’re forced to draw an ugly background, an ugly foreground, ugly characters, and thoughtful shot compositions.
Suddenly, new storyboard ideas are popping into your head:
- Maybe a special easter egg hidden in the background of a shot.
- Or perfect symmetry for a specific point in the story.
- Perhaps a match cut from one image to another.
These are great cinematic goals, and they’re often the product of storyboarding. Tim Burton movies and Wes Anderson films come to mind when I think about precise shot composition and unique production design .
They put imagery on the screen that you won’t find anywhere in the existing world. They had their departments build, scout, and piece together a world that, at one point, only existed in their minds.
How do you think they communicated their visions? Their teams used storyboards to act as examples for their vision. Learn as much as you can from these movie storyboard examples and see how you can take your dream from your head to the big screen.

How to Create a Storyboard in PowerPoint

How to create a storyboard
For an individual or a group of people who are planning a certain video, making of a storyboard will be the first step in the entire process. This will help in bring the script to life and it will also act as good illustration of the idea when presented to other people. As mentioned earlier on a storyboard is simply a series of thumbnails that represent the breakdown of a given video and it will showcase the crucial scenes and elaborate on how the setting will be like, the people that will be present and the respective actions in the various scenes. It is common to use the storyboard as a mock-up for various movie scenes, music videos, and most TV production just to mention a few. You can create one manually by hand or use a digital medium such as the various storyboard softwares.
The following steps will help you come with the best storyboards:
First come up with the story work
- For a story that does not fully follow a linear order, this being occasioned with stuff like flashbacks, shifting perspectives, flash forwards, multiple timelines or alternate outcomes, you can still have a narrative timeline for them.
- For the best outcome while doing this it is recommended that you make a list of the main events of the story in the most appropriate order of sequence.
- In case you are storyboarding for a commercial you need to decide on the scenes that will occur and the order of appearance of these scenes.
- Settle on scenes that will help to illustrate how the story develops from the start to the end. It will be good to show the key turning points in the story. This normally entails the times when there’s presence of plot twists or any other important changes.
- It will also be wise to depict changes in the settings for the various scenes such could be a change from one city to another.
- You need to create a shot list by breaking the film down shot by shot. Then you will be required to create a composition for each shot and the relevant details for them.
- It is good to keep in mind that the overall purpose of the storyboard is to provide visual clarity and to keep everyone at par. This will help you to come up with something that will not trouble the viewer when they are trying to interpret it. The bigger picture should come out quite clearly.
- For a good storyboard everybody should be able to interpret it by just looking at it. This is important as anybody in the production team might need to refer to the storyboard for certain details in each scene.
- You also need to write a description of what each scene will show. It is good to figure out how each scene will be depicted after deciding on the main scenes and the order in which they will appear. By doing this you will know what should exactly be drawn. Remember to include some sort of action in each scene and also take into the setting for each of the scenes.
The second major step is coming up with the design
- The various cell sizes need to be drawn in the same aspect ratio just similar to the finished video. You can also purchase special thumbnail sheets with these dimensions.
- A storyboard template should comprise rectangular frames into which the visuals will be inserted. For captions make sure that there are spaces for them. It is also good to have a column for audio and in this you could include the dialogue and sounds or music.
- In case you don’t want to come up with the images by yourself you have the option of hiring a storyboard artist. If you settle for this you need to give him/her the appropriate descriptions. The artist will then present you with either color or black and white sketch which you can then scan into board.
- The composition, look into lighting, the foreground and background, the color palette.
- The angle from which the camera will be shooting the scene, either high or low
- The type of shots could be either wide shots or close-up shots and even over-the-shoulder shots
- The props in a given scene
- The actors in each scene
- Any other special effects
- You can add any other important information. You need to make sure that next to or below each scene, the description of what is happening is included. You need to capture the dialogue that will take place. Also remember to specify how long each shot will take. It will also be prudent to number the cells to make it easy for referencing if need be for easier discussions with others.
- After doing all the above, you need to finalize the storyboard. This needs to be done once you have identified the key points of the subject and worked a design for each frame. You need to review what you have done and make the final changes to this. See to it that each cell portrays the action that you wanted it to and it is advisable that you seek a second opinion on this to verify that the storyboard has a good flow.
- It will be good to add some color to the storyboard to make the ideas pop and you don’t need to have perfect drawings for a storyboard.
The final major step is that of fine tuning the storyboard.
- You need to think from a three-point perspective. You don’t need to be so professional at this but this will help in making the sketches more realistic. This will also help to show how far objects or actors are from the camera. All this will help the one directing the shots.
- You need to have motivations for your cuts. There has to be continuity between the different scenes and the storyboard should at least try to relay this. This will aid in building tension and it will help to create a good flow for the story and make it to be quite captivating.
- You need to let your storyboard morph as you proceed. You don’t need to fully rely on the sketches as you direct the video or movie shots, you need to add some aspects to make the shots to be more organic. Don’t put down those who want to make some contributions that haven’t been captured in the storyboard. The storyboard just needs to be guide which can be modified as deemed fit in the shots or commercial videos shots.
All this information should help you come up with the best storyboard. Remember that this site offers you the best storyboard templates that you can make use of to simply your work. We also have storyboard examples that you can check out to make the points and various tips sink.

8 Storyboard Examples for Students
Harry Foster
Published on Jun 27, 2023, updated on Aug 05, 2024
Most people associate storyboards solely with film and series productions. However, schools are introducing this pre-production process today, especially for students taking up video and content production. If you’re one of them, continue reading and get some inspiration from the examples below.
Little Red Riding Hood
The storyboard example above, Little Red Riding Hood, is an excellent illustration of a polished template. The context clues on the panels are clear enough for the production team to understand what will happen in every scene. It can also be one of the storyboard examples for students, which you can use to teach the young kids about storytelling, sequencing, and characterization. Furthermore, the creator used special software to develop the storyboard; hence it looks very polished and organized.
The Three Little Pigs
Another famous fairytale among children is the Three Little Pigs which you can see from the storyboard example above. The illustration shows various scenes, including the pigs building a house to prevent the wolf from entering their premises. You can see from the template that dialogues are also added besides the text descriptions to understand sequences better. Character development and conflict resolution are some things you can teach the young ones using the example.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
An excellent part about the storyboard example above from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is that every box has notes on which part of the story the frame belongs. For instance, in the rising action scene, Harry goes to Hogwarts and meets Ron Weasley and Hermoine Granger. Most creators provide these context clues so they know when and where to place the frames when they create the final content.
Avengers: Infinity War
The Avengers film series is a very successful franchise, so you can expect various storyboard examples for students with Avengers: Infinity War as the subject. The template above is a raw illustration of one of the scenes in the movie. There’s little dialogue, and the creator mostly uses black and white. What’s striking about the example is its descriptions of camera movements which is essential in guiding the right camera angles during production.
Romeo and Juliet
There are different interpretations of the Romeo and Juliet story. Without reading the novel, you can identify that their love story is tragic based on the storyboard example above. You can see the courtship from the first box until the final box, where Romeo looks at Juliet’s dead body.
SpongeBob SquarePants
The illustration above falls under the storyboard examples for students with a playful touch. It talks about Spongebob finding his identity. It’s an excellent approach for kids you’re about to teach about storytelling. The template is visually appealing with all the colors and cartoon illustrations.
Asterix & Obelix
The storyboard example above seems different from the previous templates you’ve seen. One noticeable difference is that this Asterix & Obelix storyboard template does not use captions and context clues. Instead, it highly relies on images and drawings. There are just some scenes or panels where camera movements are emphasized using arrows and red boxes. Generally, storyboarding designs depend on the creator. So if you’re learning about storyboarding, it pays to explore your options.
Astro Boy was first introduced to the public in 1952; since then, this cartoon character has been the favorite of most people. The Storyboard template above is one of the many chapters of Astro Boy storyboards. You can see that almost all sequences have dialogues involved. In most cases, conversations are as essential as animations producing this animated series. As a creator, you can also incorporate colors in your illustration, especially on the iconic red boots of Astro Boy.

5 Storyboard Templates for Video Marketing
Video marketing templates.
Video marketing is quickly becoming the standard for most product campaigns as it allows your target audience to sit back and easily understand what the product or service looks like, does, and how it can improve their lives. To create an effective marketing video, it's important to understand the value of different types of videos and tailor your approach to your audience. It is an extremely powerful and effective sales and marketing tool. However, creating a compelling video isn't always easy and requires careful planning and preparation, such as video storyboarding.
One important step in the planning process is to create a storyboard that clearly presents your vision to the team before the actual filming takes place. A storyboarding template can help you experiment with multiple concepts quickly and easily, while keeping costs low. By using storyboard examples and video storyboarding, you can reduce the risk of miscommunication that may take place between the marketing team and the product development team.
Through the use of visual storyboards, a video marketer can present a number of different options to the product developer, allowing them to choose the best option for their audience. This ensures that both parties have a clear understanding of what the final product will look like and helps to eliminate any potential misunderstandings or miscommunications.
To Get Started, Here are 5 Templates for Marketing Videos
The Brand Reinforcer
When people are deciding which product to buy or which service to use they often have too many choices and too little time. Making sure your company's name comes to mind first is essential, and the best way to do this is through brand reinforcement. Using a visual story board template for video can help you effectively plan and execute your brand reinforcement strategy. By using templates, you can experiment with different ways to incorporate your company's name and logo into the video in a way that is engaging and memorable for your target audience. This will help ensure that your brand is reinforced in the mind of the customer, making it more likely that they will start putting your product or service above competitors. Storyboard That offers many free templates available online that you can use to streamline your brand reinforcement process. By utilizing these templates, and incorporating your company's name and logo throughout the video, you can increase brand recognition and ultimately drive more sales for your business.
The Customer Journey
Instead of focusing on the sale, take your customers on a journey with your short video. Start with an introduction to your key characters, their setting, and their problems, and show them a real life example of how your product or service can be useful to them. Adding humor or suspense to your video can help keep your viewers engaged and make your story more memorable. It's important to make the story believable and try to form an emotional attachment between your characters and your audience.
Storyboarding is an essential part of creating a compelling video that takes your customers on a journey. By using templates and a storyboard for video template, it is much easier to plan out the structure of your video, and create a storyline that resonates with your audience. A storyboard example can provide inspiration for how to effectively structure your story and create a memorable video that captures your viewer's attention.
To make your video stand out, consider using a professional cartoon storyboard. A cartoon storyboard can help bring your key characters to life and make your story more relatable. Through the use of a professional cartoon storyboard, you can put together a cohesive and visually appealing video that effectively communicates the value of your product or service.
Overall, utilizing templates, storyboard video examples, and professional cartoon storyboards can help you make better videos that effectively communicate the value of your product or service in a compelling way. By focusing on storytelling and creating relatable characters, you can create a video that highlights key elements, resonates with your audience, and sets your brand apart from the competition.
When someone purchases a product or a service, the last thing they want is to have to figure out how to use it. Making a quick, simple demo video allows your customers to easily understand how to use your product or service and will allow them to get the most out of their purchase. This, in turn, will lead to happier customers, better retention, and a successful business.
The Customer Testimonial
To create effective customer testimonial videos, it's important to have a storyboard template specifically designed for them. A customer testimonial storyboard can help ensure that the final product is a genuine and relatable portrayal of your satisfied customers. The video production process for these types of videos is crucial, as it involves capturing real-life experiences and opinions from your customers. By using a customer testimonial storyboard, you can organize and plan the video production process more efficiently. It allows you to map out the different elements of the video, such as camera angle and the different customers you'll feature and the specific things they'll talk about. With a solid storyboard in place, you can create customer testimonial videos that are both engaging and effective at building trust with your audience.
Animated Video
The use of animated videos in marketing can be an incredibly effective tool for promoting products or services. One of the main advantages of animation is that it allows you to explore creative concepts that may be beyond the laws of nature or difficult to convey through traditional filming methods. If your product gives customers the sensation of flying to the moon, an animation can visually convey that experience. Another benefit is that cartoon character storyboards can be less distracting than using real-life people, especially if the video is designed to convey data. Animated characters can clearly point to information on a board or screen, making it easier for the audience to comprehend. Lastly, using professional cartoon storyboard templates or animation templates enables you to visualize abstract ideas in a simple, engaging way. For instance, you can easily show the impact of your product on a global scale by using an animation of a globe and a crowd of people. By utilizing the best video storyboard templates, you can create compelling marketing videos that grab your audience's attention and effectively communicate your message.
What are the Three Types of Storyboards?
Storyboarding is a crucial step in the pre-production process of filmmaking, animation, and other visual storytelling mediums. There are different types of detailed storyboards, each serving specific purposes. The three main types are:
- Traditional: A traditional storyboard is a series of hand-drawn or printed illustrations arranged in sequence to represent the shots, key scenes, special effects, and actions of a film, animation, or other visual media project. Traditional storyboards are typically created on paper or boards using pen, pencil, markers, or other traditional art materials. They serve as the first step, and a visual roadmap for the production team, helping to plan and communicate the visual aspects of a project before actual filming or animation begins.
- Digital: A digital storyboard is a version of a traditional storyboard created using digital tools. While traditional storyboards often involve hand-drawn sketches on paper, digital storyboards utilize digital devices such as computers or tablets along with specialized storyboarding software for creation of a professional video. So, before you start sketching, consider making the storyboard process a digital one!
- Thumbnail: These are small, rough sketches or drawings that provide a quick and simple overview of the different scenes and every shot in a sequence. They are useful for quickly brainstorming ideas and organizing the basic structure of a story. It is a good idea to use stick figures when creating a visual thumbnail.
Benefits of Storyboarding in Video Production
Storyboarding a video is a crucial step in the pre-production process that involves creating a visual roadmap of the shots and key scenes in a sequential order. The storyboard serves as a planning tool, and offers several benefits for filmmakers, animators, and video creators.
Visualization and Communication
- Clear Vision: The storyboarding process helps to visualize the entire video and catch potential problems early, before production begins. A finished storyboard provides a clear representation of how the key scenes will unfold, helping the creators to refine their vision, add notes, and make necessary adjustments.
- Communication Tool: It serves as a communication tool between members of the team, ensuring that everyone involved in the project, including directors, cinematographers, and editors, shares a common understanding of the project's visual elements.
Time and Cost Efficiency
- Efficient Production: Storyboarding allows for efficient planning, making the production of a professional video smoother. This can save time during filming, as the team has a predetermined plan for the shot list.
- Cost Reduction: By identifying potential issues and making adjustments on a rough draft, filmmakers can avoid costly mistakes during the actual shoot.
Creative Direction
- Creative Exploration: Storyboarding provides an opportunity for creative exploration and to see new ideas before video creation. It allows creators to experiment with different shot compositions, and visual styles before committing to the final product.
- Consistent Style: It helps in maintaining a consistent visual style throughout the video, ensuring that the overall aesthetic aligns with the creative vision.
Problem Solving
- Identifying Challenges: Storyboarding helps in identifying potential challenges or limitations in the script that may require attention. This allows the team to find solutions before entering the video creation phase.
- Storyboard Revisions: It's easier to make revisions on paper rather than during the actual shoot. This flexibility can be crucial in refining the narrative or addressing logistical concerns.
Collaboration and Team Alignment
- Team Alignment: Storyboarding encourages collaboration among team members, aligning everyone on the same page regarding the project's visual elements.
- Feedback and Input: It provides a platform for team members to provide input and feedback, fostering a collaborative and creative working environment.
Pitching and Fundraising
- Pitching Tool: Storyboards are often used as a visual aid when pitching a video project and case studies to stakeholders, investors, or clients. They help convey the essence of the video in a concise and compelling manner.
- Fundraising Support: For projects seeking funding, storyboards can be instrumental in convincing investors or sponsors of the project's viability and visual appeal.
Why Should I Use Storyboards When Planning a Video?
Not only is it fun to use storyboards in an educational setting, but storyboards also help in the planning phase of a video. Here are just a few of the reasons why one storyboard could make all the difference when you need video structure.
- Visualizing the Narrative: Storyboards provide a visual representation of the entire video's narrative, allowing the creative team to see how the story unfolds, shot by shot. This visualization is crucial for understanding the pacing, flow, and overall structure of the video.
- Clarifying Ideas: Creating a storyboard helps to clarify and refine creative ideas. It allows the team to experiment with different compositions, camera angles, and visual elements before committing to the actual production.
- Communication and Collaboration: Storyboards serve as a common visual language for the entire production team. They facilitate communication and collaboration among directors, cinematographers, art directors, and other team members by providing a clear reference point for discussing and refining visual elements.
- Planning Shots and Sequences: Storyboards also help in planning every scene, individual shots, and sequences. They enable the team to make decisions about camera movement, framing, and composition, ensuring that the video will be visually engaging and effective.
- Identifying Potential Issues: Reviewing the storyboard can help identify potential issues with the narrative or pacing early in the planning stage. This allows for adjustments to be made before significant time and resources are invested in the production.
- Cost and Time Efficiency: Storyboards contribute to cost and time efficiency by providing a roadmap for the production. When the entire team has a clear understanding of the visual plan, there is less likelihood of wasted resources due to misunderstandings or miscommunications.
- Client and Stakeholder Communication: For projects involving clients or external stakeholders, storyboards are valuable for communicating the visual concept and gaining approval before moving forward with production. This helps ensure that everyone involved is on the same page regarding the creative direction.
- Guiding the Filming Process: During the actual filming or animation, storyboards serve as a guide for the production team. They help ensure that the intended shots are captured and that the visual style remains consistent with the creative vision.
Now it's your turn. Choose one of these five templates and edit the storyboard to add your own information. Or if you're up for the challenge, create your own storyboard from scratch right here!
How to Make a Video Storyboard
Identify audience.
Start by identifying your audience and the message you want to convey in your video. This will help guide the overall direction of your storyboard.
Choose a Template
Look for a marketing video template or an animation storyboard template online. There are many free storyboard templates available that can be a great starting point for your own project or marketing campaign.
Begin Creating
Take the time to create a rough sketch of key scenes in your storyboard. You don't need to be an artist, but the more detailed your sketch is, the easier it will be for you and your team to understand the vision for the final video. Creating visual storyboards digitally may take away the stress of drawing!
Add Dialogue
Add any necessary dialogue or text to each scene in your storyboard. This will help clarify what's happening in each scene and make it easier to move on to the next step in the video production process. Storyboarding software like Storyboard That will help you get your point across, and will make every video stand out.
Incorporate Testimonials
Incorporate customer testimonial storyboard or customer testimonial videos in your storyboard to help build trust with potential customers. These can be a great way to show how your product or service has helped real people in the past.
Once you've finished your storyboard, review it with your team and make any necessary changes. This will ensure that everyone is on the same page before you start filming.
Remember that the best video templates are the ones that are easy to understand and communicate your message clearly to your audience. Don't be afraid to experiment with different ideas and also use different concepts to get the perfect final result.
