After 3 years of hiatus, National Award-winning actress Ritika Singh came up with a new film called In Car. Directed by debutant Harsh Warrdhan, the movie released in theaters today. Let’s see how the movie is.
Sakshi Gulati (Ritika Singh), a college-going student, gets abducted by a group of three miscreants on the Machilipatnam National Highway. They kidnap Sakshi and try to sexually assault her in a moving car. Helpless Sakshi pleads with them to leave her. But the merciless trio try to abuse her physically. What does Sakshi do then? Did she escape from them or become prey to them? The main film has the answers.
Plus Points:
Director Harsh Warrdhan tackles one of the key problems that the majority of women face in our nation. Hundreds of females are being abducted by cruel-minded individuals in our country, but only a very few cases have come to light. This is what the director intends to narrate.
Ritika Singh needs to be appreciated for okaying this kind of project and she delivers her best as a helpless woman. One of the kidnappers, Ravi (Manish Jhanjholia) lives in the given role and his sadistic behaviour makes one feel that he should have been killed right in the car. His performance is quite realistic and makes everyone hate him for his filthy language and behaviour. Yashwanth (Sandeep Goyat) and Kittu (Sunil Soni) also performed well.
Minus Points:
The movie’s thin plot is dragged out for over 90 minutes. The runtime is not a big deal if the narration is engaging, but unfortunately, it is what In Car missed. The writer-director Harsh Warrdhan tried to make In Car a better survival thriller but failed miserably.
Ritika’s performance as Sakshi is okay, but what makes one wonder is she doesn’t even try to slap the men who abducted her. Despite resisting, she sits in silence and moans throughout the film. One will feel that the driver, who is not a part of the kidnappers, can do something to save the innocent soul.
The problem with the film is the excessive use of cuss words and abusive language. It’s high time for the censor board members to axe the usage of filthy language in movies.
The tedious screenplay, filled with foul language and irrelevant conversations, can test the audience’s patience. A better screenplay, shorter runtime, and a bunch of twists could have made the film at least an okayish watch.
Technical Aspects:
Harsh Warrdhan failed both as a writer and director. Although the film falls short on technical aspects, the cinematography by Mithun Gangopadhyay is exceptional, especially in its use of drone and close-up shots to create a specific mood. People who worked for sound designing and editing departments failed big time. If these two aspects had been handled well, In Car would definitely become an engaging thriller. Production values are just average.
On the whole, In Car falls short of engaging its audience, unable to hold their attention even for a mere five minutes. The use of foul language and the sluggish pace of the screenplay in both halves make it difficult for viewers to remain seated. Apart from the climax and the commendable performance by Ritika Singh, the movie lacks any significant appeal. It is advisable to avoid this dull survival thriller.

Ritika Singh In Car

Three dreaded criminals are on their way to Machilipatnam. To make their journey enjoyable, they abduct a random girl named Sakshi Gulati(Ritika Singh) and start misbehaving with her in the car. She tries to escape but these criminals are very hard to escape. In such a crazy situation, what will Sakshi do? how did she save herself? and how she survives the onslaught in the car forms the rest of the story.
Kranthi is a survival thriller that is based on a true story that happened in north India. Director Harsh Warrdhan weaves his story in such a way that one connects to it right away. A helpless girl gets abducted and is put in a deadly situation, this looks quite intimidating on the screen. The film starts on a slow note as the director takes a lot of time to establish the plot. The actual drama kickstarts only when Ritika Singh gets abducted by the goons.
There are only five characters in the film and the drama unfolds in an Innova car that is stolen from an old man who is forced to drive the goons to the destination. As he is old, he cannot save the girl and is in a helpless position. All this is established in a good way. The three characters who are showcased as kidnappers also create interest at the beginning of the film with their weird actions.
But the thrill factor is not established properly. Ritika Singh's character gives up way too easily when she gets abducted. She does not show much resilience to escape the situation initially. As the entire film happens in the car, there is nothing much the director can do in terms of thrills and twists. So the conversations of these goons with the girl needed to create an impact but that does not happen.
The scenes In Car are dragged for no reason. The logic goes for a toss as the driver who is also in the kidnap situation does not do one bit to save the girl or himself. This looks a bit weird. Ritika Singh's character is seen on a silent note in the beginning when she is put under pressure. The film has some good scenes as a chase scene in the farmland and the way Ritika breaks through in the end. Barring this, things are pale.
Until the interval point, there is no thrill and this makes things lethargic. It is only Ritika Singh's honest performances that create an impact. She is amazing as the girl who is left in a helpless situation. There is a lot of physical touching that she goes through from these goons and Ritika showcases the pain in a beautiful manner. Ritika's performance in the climax was quite good. Ravi (Manish Jhanjholia) plays a sadistic goon and though he irritates you in the beginning, as the movie progresses he becomes threatening. Yashwanth (Sandeep Goyat) and Kittu (Sunil Soni) also performed well.
As the film happens in a car, the cinematography was top-notch. The camera angles used to showcase the emotions of the actors were quite good. The Telugu dubbing was worse and the dialogues were decent. The BGM is not that great. A more melodramatic score would have elevated the tension a bit more. Director Harshh has the story and actors but his narration lacks the proper grip. There is no tension that is created as the film finally gets into its groove only in the last fifteen minutes when the girl breaks free and the emotions hit the audience.
In Car is a survival thriller with a relatable plot about how women get abducted in India on a daily basis and go through it. The plot is established well and Ritika Singh nails it with her performance. But the film is low on thrills and does not move you emotionally. What could have been a racy thriller that is spoilt by some boring execution and unengaging narration which does not excite you much?

Ritika Singh starrer road survival drama, In Car, had a pan-India release today. Let’s see how it fares.
Story: A street rowdy along with his two nephews hijacks a car driver and decides to kidnap a beautiful girl to enjoy the road journey before reaching their hometown Machilipatnam. In an intense search, they find a college girl Sakshi( Ritika Singh) at the bus stop. How will the girl face further consequences after her kidnap? What kind of struggle does she undergo in the car? How will she escape from the idiotic trio, forms the key aspect.
Performances: Except for Ritika Singh, the film has completely new faces. Acting-wise, the teenagers who played sibling roles are okay with their performance. Their psychotic acting brings depth to a few road journey scenes. Manish and Sandeep are the guys who played the characters.
The guy Sunil Soni who played the uncle role of the two youngsters and an old man who did the car driver role did their part decently.
Last but not least, the talented Ritika Singh who played the victim role did cent percent justice to her role. Especially, her performance during the helpless situation in the car under the custody of three people adds weight to the proceedings. Her acting during the climax portion registers well.
Technicalities: The cinematography work is nice as the Drown shots in an upper view and closeup shots are captured with good efficiency. The cameraman Mithun Gangopadhyay should be appreciated for it.
The background music composed by Mathias Duplessy fails to register. Editing work is adequate. The production design work is okay and so is the case with the making values.
Analysis: The basic plotline of In Car is good and it is connected with a burning issue in society. Director cum story writer Harsh Warrdhan’s concept has scope to explore in an even better way but sadly he dilutes the audience’s mood with his uneven presentation.
When decided to make a road survival drama, Harsh Warrdhan would have worked on writing a gripping screenplay with enough thrilling moments in the narrative at the scripting stage itself but looks like he didn’t work on this aspect seriously as most of the film runs on a dull note with unengaging scene order.
To summarize, the team’s intention behind making In Car is fine but the director failed miserably to execute the concept with enough gripping elements. Despite decent efforts from the lead cast, the film turns shoddy.
Verdict: A drive that lacks soul!

InCar (2023) Movie : What's Behind
Ritika Singh, boxer turned actor captured the imagination of all winning the national award for her performance in her debut film Saala Khadoos which was remade in Telugu as Guru. Many expected her to reach the next stage in stardom but she was seen in very few films. She is once again coming to entertain viewers with a Pan India thriller In Car. The film directed by Harsh Warrdhan released on 3 March 2023 in various languages. The film's OTT partner will be finalized in the coming days and streaming will be done after the completion of its theatrical run. Let us find out whether InCar twists excited viewers or not.
In Car movie : Story Review
In Car story is all about women's safety and how women become easy prowl to the criminals running amock everywhere. Young student, Sakshi (Ritika Singh) who waits for her bus to write an exam on the Machilipatnam National Highway, gets kidnapped by Richie (Manish Jhanjholia), his elder brother Yash (Richie Sandeep Goyat) and their uncle (Sunil Soni) who recently escapes from jail and decides to have fun. To find out how Sakshi tackles the situation, watch InCar on the screen.
In Car movie : Artists Review
Ritika Singh tried her best to lift the film with her performance. She showed her ordeal in a natural and realistic manner. She is good in the climax scenes. There are many unknown faces as the makers tried to attract viewers at the national level. Manish Jhanjholia, Gyan Prakash, Sandeep Goyat, and Sunil Soni performed according to their roles. While most of their character arcs are routine, Ritika Singh got nothing much to except to sob and moan throughout the film. Viewers are left to wonder why Ritika Singh did not even try to fight and instead submit meekly to them asking them to rape her but not ditch her in a lonely place.
In Car movie : Technicians Review
InCar story readied by Harsh Warrdhan tried to highlight the ordeals faced by women in a powerful manner and give a message to society and the criminals. However, Harsh Warrdhan failed completely in his attempt. Many such stories came earlier and the story offered nothing new. With no real strength in the story, he dragged the narration testing the patience of the viewers. Much to the surprise of all, Harsh Warrdhan showed Ritika Singh's character as quite weak and only has semblances of strength.
The dialogues are ordinary but the writers went overboard and used cuss words extensively. One wonders what the Censor Board is doing so and why it did not object to those obscene and cuss words. Harsh Warrdhan failed with his story, screenplay, and direction. With a wafer-thin story, he failed to narrate in an interesting manner. The screenplay tests the patience of the viewers while he failed with his direction.
Mithun Gangopadhyay's cinematography is better compared to other departments. Mathias Duplessy's music is just average and his background score also failed to make an impact. The editing of Manik Diwar left a lot to be desired.
In Car movie : Advantages
- Cinematography
In Car movie : Disadvantages
- Weak Screenplay
- Missing Thrills
- Boring Narration
In Car (2023) movie : Rating Analysis
Altogether, In Car movie failed to make any impact. Incar starring Ritika Singh and directed by Harsh Warrdhan which was released after it created a good buzz, Couldn't show any effect. Ritika Singh's hard work did not help the film as her character turned out to be weak and viewers are left to wonder why she signed the film in the first place. Harsh Warrdhan as a director tried to thrill viewers with the roadside survival story but instead ended up increasing the misery of the viewers with his story, screenplay, and direction. Harsh Warrdhan must have believed that extensive usage of cuss and obscene words would do wonders but it instead won the wrath of the viewers. After watching In Car people say in Hindi 'Inkaar' (Reject). Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 1 rating for In Car.

In Car review: Ritika Singh’s survival drama leaves you drained instead of stirring your emotions
The revolting dialogues, unconvincing performances and insipid reconstruction of scenes make it truly horrible to watch.

Director Harsh Warrdhan’s In Car is a pan-Indian film that has been released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
The makers of pan-Indian films usually bear in mind that they have to be sensitive to the sensibilities of the audiences. They also take utmost care of the language that the film is being translated into and yes, the credits.
Though the credits in the Tamil version of In Car are in Tamil, it’s surprising to note that the team didn’t bother to check the spelling mistakes before screening the movie.
This isn’t it! The film has a lot more to offer. Read through to find out what:
Three illiterates, one of whom is a convict on bail, return to their hometown in Haryana. Their vehicle breaks down and the trio, being the hoodlums they are, hijacks an SUV along with its driver.
The convict suggests that they kidnap a woman from the streets for him to satiate his sexual desires.

While his elder brother advises him against doing anything stupid, their uncle — an equally uncouth and uncivilised criminal — wants his nephew to “celebrate” his freedom.
They abduct a girl from a bus stop in broad daylight. They keep molesting her while travelling in the car. They also keep telling her how they intend to rape her. What happens to the girl is what In Car is all about.
Sensibilities missing
As the film deals with a sensitive issue like rape, the story needs to be narrated with sensibility. However, what we get to see in it is an artificial and insipid reconstruction of the sequence of events.
For instance, in the scene where the girl gets abducted, there are many people around, including a woman cop who does not even care to react to the crime! This is despite the girl screaming and refusing to get into the car.
Next, in one particular instance, the car driver gets an opportunity to escape and sneaks away. However, he is shown returning for the sake of the girl.

One wonders why the man did not sneak away with the car key which was in his possession! Eventually, that would have meant that the kidnappers would have been left stranded on the highway.
Also, the driver doesn’t resist the three culprits for a major portion of the film. Initially, we believe it considering him to be just a driver. However, we later get to know that he is a retired police constable!
Several such questions come up in your mind but the film offers no answers, whatsoever.

The male characters are made to speak some revolting, disgusting dialogues with sexual overtones throughout the movie.
These might have helped the director make his point. But then, those dialogues make the film a revolting affair and end up leaving the audience, especially women, disgusted.

Performances
Ritika Singh struggles to deliver a convincing performance as the girl who gets kidnapped and is repeatedly molested and constantly threatened to get raped.
A poster of ‘In Car’ movie. (ritika_offl/Twitter)
One would have expected to see a mixture of fear, anger, worry and expectation written all over the face of a victim. Instead, what we get to see on Ritika’s face is occasional anger and a tinge of sadness.
Strangely, for the most part, she is not even seen fighting or struggling with her abductors. A more convincing performance could have saved the film.
Manish Jhanjholia, as the criminal who has been let out on bail, does a fantastic job though. He makes you hate him wholeheartedly with his antics and misbehaviour.
The others come up with decent performances but nothing that is outstanding.
The movie, for the most part, is about five individuals in a car; three of whom keep molesting a woman and keep uttering despicable dialogues.
In short, In Car is just another film that leaves you drained by the time it ends.

In Car is a Telugu dubbed survival thriller film directed by Harsh Warrdhan. The film has Ritika Singh playing the lead role while Sandeep Goyat, Manish Jhanjholia, Sunil Soni, Gyan Prakash & others are seen playing key roles. The music is composed by Mathias Duplessy and the film is produced by Anjum Qureshi & Sajid Qureshi Reddy under Inbox Pictures banner.
The film is about a young girl’s terrifying journey of survival and the plot is set majorly in a car. A young college-going girl (Rithika Singh) is kidnapped by some miscreants. They hit her badly and plan to rape her in an isolated location. She looks for every chance to run off from them. But all her efforts go in vain. When she is left with no other option, she decides to fight back. Will she win the battle & escape? What happens later needs to be seen in the film.
What about on-screen performances?
Rithika Singh does a commendable performance as the victim. She needs to be appreciated for accepting a challenging role like this and it is surely a brave attempt from the young actress. She is particularly superb in the pre-climax portions.
Manish Jhanjholia is the pick of the actors from the rest of the cast. His body language is apt and he does a brilliant job as the vindictive rapist.
Sandeep Goyat and Sunil Soni are pretty decent as the other two culprits.
Gyan Prakash is good as the car driver while the rest of the cast are okay in their limited parts.
What about off-screen talents?
The story by Harsh Warrdhan has nothing out of the box except for most of the plot happening inside a car. Though it is a brave attempt, the core plot is very routine.
The screenplay is the biggest drawback of the film. For a survival film like this, the screenplay has to be racy and needs to have decent thrills but the makers fail in adding these aspects.
Director Harsh Warrdhan does a good job with his presentation but his narrative is another big culprit. The slow-paced storytelling doesn’t work and the narrative never keeps us engaged. There are many logics that go for a toss and the long conversations in between a serious crime makes it look dull. After a point, we stop sympathizing with the main character due to these unwanted conversations.
The Telugu dialogues are fine and the Telugu dubbing looks off-track at a few places.
The camera work by Mithun Gangopadhyay is the biggest asset of the film. The framing inside the car is perfectly done and especially the long drone shots are splendid on big screens.
The music by Mathias Duplessy is fine while the edit by Manik Dawar needed to be crisper.
The production values by Inbox Pictures are good.
What’s Hot?
- Rithika Singh’s Performance
- Manish Jhanjholia’s Performance
- Brilliant Cinematography
What’s Not?
- Poor Screenplay
- Lacks Thrills
- Logicless Scenes
- Flat First 20 Minutes
- Boring Conversations
Verdict: On the whole, In Car is a pale survival thriller that only keeps us engaged at the ending portions. Apart from Rithika Singh’s brave act, there is nothing much to crave about in this film.

A group of The Fast and the Furious -style vehicles briefly threaten another car. Cars argue with one another, lose their tempers, and look sad or lonely. There's some innocent flirtation between boy and girl cars. Some mild language -- at least one use of "hell." PG movie by today's standards
Love it great messages here amazing work disney and pixar, what's the story.
As his name suggests, Lightning McQueen ( Owen Wilson ) is all about speed in CARS. A hotshot red stock car who's poised to be the next champion -- Lightning wants to win the coveted Piston Cup. As the movie begins, he hits the track in a race against two legendary race cars. A dead-heat finale sends these three key contenders off to a showdown. Lightning boards his transport truck Mack ( John Ratzenberger ) and aims west along Route 66, but he's sidetracked when he falls off the truck in a small town where he meets his life teachers, including Sarge the reveille-playing, surplus-selling Jeep ( Paul Dooley ), Ramone the hyper-detailed lowrider (Cheech Marin), and new best friend, Mater the tow truck ( Larry the Cable Guy ) provides the requisite proud-to-be-a-redneck jokes. Sentenced to community service, Lightning tries to escape but eventually gives in. Lightning grumbles on the night shift, but by day, he discovers the beauty of the western landscape, all big skies and grand canyons, the sort of mythic imagery that, according to the movie's nostalgia, families once drove across country to consume.
Is It Any Good?
Colorful and often charming, this film renders its nostalgia for a mythic past via state-of-the-art technologies. But once Lightning settles into the small town, the door opens for marketing opportunities. Cars reframes many youthful fancies as consumable objects, ensuring that movie and NASCAR tie-in products will be in circulation.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the relationship between the old cars and the newer ones in Cars . They have different values. How does the film set up a choice between the current era (selfishness, commercial and celebrity culture run rampant) and a more ethical-seeming past (Doc embodies patience, skill, and dedication to community)?
How does Lightning learn to appreciate and also, conveniently, enhance that simpler life?
How do the characters in Cars demonstrate humility and integrity ? Why are these important character strengths ?

'Evil Does Not Exist' — or does it? — in this mysterious Japanese eco-drama
Justin Chang

Ryô Nishikawa plays Hana in Evil Does Not Exist.
What do you do after you've directed a talky, three-hour Japanese drama that became a critics' darling and major arthouse hit and received four Oscar nominations, winning one for best international feature?
If you're Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, the gifted 45-year-old filmmaker behind Drive My Car , you step back and go for a long walk in the woods, in search of fresh air and new ideas.
The result is a mesmerizing new movie, Evil Does Not Exist , that leaves behind the mostly urban settings of Hamaguchi's earlier films like Happy Hour and Asako I & II . It takes place in a rural village within driving distance of Tokyo, that's home to a close-knit community of about 6,000 people.
'Drive My Car' may be the most absorbing ride you take all year
The first two characters we meet are a young girl named Hana and her single dad, Takumi, a woodcutter who knows the surrounding forest better than most. The movie sets a gently pastoral rhythm, following father and daughter as they walk through the woods, identifying trees and other plants and stumbling on the occasional dead deer.
Takumi, wonderfully played by Hitoshi Omika, knows that their presence here is disruptive, but he and his fellow residents do strive to be good, responsible stewards of the land. And so they're incensed when they learn that a company is planning to build a glamping resort in the area, with potentially disastrous environmental consequences.
And so Evil Does Not Exist begins as a kind of ecological parable, pitting townsfolk against corporate developers. The centerpiece is a brilliantly written and acted sequence in which the company reps meet with the locals, promising that the campsite will bring tourists and boost their economy.
But the locals aren't fools, and one by one, they raise issues, from the risk of wildfires from BBQ pits to the septic tank that will pollute the town's water supply. The sequence has some of the texture of a Frederick Wiseman documentary , and it's similarly skilled at turning a slideshow presentation in a community center into the stuff of engrossing drama.
There's a turning point in the story when one of the company reps — Takahashi, played by the actor Ryûji Kosaka — seems to fall under the spell of this wooded region and even fantasizes about moving here. For a while it looks like the movie might be the story of a city mouse turning country mouse.
But nothing about Evil Does Not Exist turns out to be predictable. As he's done before, Hamaguchi gives us characters who are too complicated and richly drawn to be reduced to any one type. Yet that doesn't explain how hauntingly different this movie feels from his other work.
It's more sparsely written and more unsettling in tone. The musical score, composed by Eiko Ishibashi, is both lush and ominous, and it often cuts off abruptly, to disorienting effect. The outdoor scenery is shot with a crystalline beauty, but the longer you watch, the more sinister the imagery becomes. At times Hamaguchi positions the camera at ground level looking up, as if to show us the perspective of the earth itself. In these moments, the human characters suddenly look strangely alien, like the interlopers they are.
I've seen Evil Does Not Exist a few times now, and each time it's held me rapt, only to leave me feeling profoundly unnerved. Much of that has to do with the ending, which is confounding in ways that have already generated a lot of debate. I'm still wrestling with the ending myself and what it says about the human compulsion to dominate one's environment. I'm also still getting a handle on the title. It's as if Hamaguchi is trying to get us to look at the natural world, human beings included, beyond the comforting framework of good vs. evil.
Nowhere is this more evident than in the character of Takumi, whom Omika plays with an inscrutability that both frightens you and draws you in. He may be a loving father and caretaker of the land, but Takahashi misreads him at his own peril. It's the two lead actors' performances that keep you watching through the shattering final moments. Whether or not evil exists, I'm glad a movie this mysterious and powerful does.

Transformers (2007)
Transformers.
Release Date 2007-06-27
Director Michael Bay
Cast Rachael Taylor, Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Tyrese Gibson, Josh Duhamel, Anthony Anderson
Rating PG-13
Runtime 144
Transformers had to be on this list. While the film and the franchise are focused on robotic aliens from outer space fighting an intergalactic war, they also need to take the shape of vehicles, and that gives the filmmakers (and toymakers) plenty of chances to highlight a wide variety of cars that fans can enjoy. They are the ultimate toys as one gets a car and robots together for the price of one. Even though the movie centers around a good portion of human characters, the audience is drawn in by Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Megatron.
Why Transformers Makes This List
Transformers might be one of the most important car movies for young audiences. It is likely for an entire generation, a yellow Camaro became a dream car because it was Bumblebee in Transformers , and to this day, when people see a yellow Camaro, they will think of Transformers . Combine that with Optimus Prime being a truck with red flames, or Ironhide being a GMC pickup truck or Ratchet being a Hummer, Transformers helped lay the groundwork for kids to want to know what vehicles their favorite characters turned into. As the franchise went, plenty of more vehicles would get the spotlight as Transformers , with the prequel films giving a focus on classic cars. The film also tapped into a powerful ethos many car drivers feel: "A driver doesn't pick the cars. Cars pick the driver. It's a mystical bond between man and machine." Stream on TNT, TBS, and DirectTV.
Rush (2013)

Director Ron Howard

The film is an adrenaline rush for audience members and features incredible race sequences, one that put an emphasis on dangers over thrills.
Rush is a Must-Watch
Howard manages to capture the essence of two of the most famous drivers, showing their clash of personalities and tying it all together when he focuses on the tragedy that occurred. The director stunningly captures the nerve-wracking danger of F1 racing at the height of its era, when safety protocols weren’t really implemented and the drivers were considered true daredevils, and simultaneously shows how it affected Lauda himself, but also the other drivers. The film gives space to the negative and also positive aspects of Formula 1, making it Rush is jam-packed with gripping races, fast cars, and edge-of-your-seat action, which truly makes it a thrilling and entertaining ride for moviegoers. Halicki film and follows a retired car thief who finds himself back in the game when he’s tasked with stealing fifty cars in order to save his brother’s life. Nicholas Cage and Angelina Jolie, two big names in Hollywood who are known to deliver outstanding performances, headline the picture, which is without a doubt a tribute to car lovers across the world as it shows off fifty lavish automobiles.
Why It Is One of the Best
On top of its exciting storyline, Gone in 60 Seconds stands out with an amazing soundtrack, creating a matching atmosphere by adding hip-hop music and alternative rock by famous artists such as Ice Cube or The Chemical Brothers. As for the high-speed excitement, the film features a stunning array of vehicles that’s every hot rod lover’s dream. From a classic 1953 Chevrolet Corvette to a 2000 Porsche Boxster, car lovers will certainly spot one, or many more, favorites. There is also enough time to admire spectacular stunts and chases, allowing for a depiction of the cars' performances. Fans of over-the-top Hollywood action and mindless good-natured fun will love the heist flick, if not simply for the aesthetic and thrilling car chase scenes. Rent on AppleTV

Ferrari Examines the Man Behind the Car
While most movies on this list focus on cars, Ferrari decides to dig deep into one of the most creative and influential people in car culture. Enzo Ferrari was a complicated man, and director Michael Mann delves into the troubles of his life and what informed his company that makes cars that are still loved the world over. It shows various cars and different companies and connects the majority of them to real-life car brands that have impressed fans for decades. The story is a simple one of a hotshot rookie racing a car living in the fast lane who, after being forced to do a detour and do time in a small town off Route 66, learns the value in slowing down and just going for a drive.

Keller won in the category "Best Film Editing" for his outstanding work regarding the car chase sequences and overall editing. Film critic Emanuel Levy declared in 2003 that “ Bullitt contains one of the most exciting car chases in film history, a sequence that revolutionized Hollywood’s standards.” Rent on AppleTV

Genres Drama, Thriller, Action, Crime, Documentary
The 2011 Nicolas Winding Refn action drama Drive stars Ryan Gosling as an unnamed Hollywood stunt driver who moonlights as a getaway driver and finds himself in danger after he attempts to help his cash-strapped neighbor. The dark thriller earned a standing ovation when it made its debut at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, with Refn winning the festival’s highly coveted Best Director Award. With its sleek direction, hyper-stylized violence and stunning imagery, Drive features dynamite performances by Gosling as well as its supporting cast including Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston and Albert Brooks.
Drive is a Different Car Movie
With nail-biting car chases and riveting action sequences, the film earned praise for its direction, cinematography and true grit; Rolling Stone called Drive “a brilliant piece of nasty business.” There is no doubt that the finished film stands out with its captivating aesthetic, which captures the gritty mood an action thriller requires, but even before the film went into production, a lot of work had already gone into the preparation. Gosling, especially, took his role incredibly seriously, even going as far as to choose the character's car himself and even doing all the restoration work before the car was ready to be featured on screen. The Italian Job (1969)
1969’s classic comedy caper The Italian Job tells the story of Charlie Croker, the leader of a Cockney criminal gang who devises a plan to steal a gold shipment from the streets of Turin by staging a traffic jam. The renowned Michael Caine portrays the suave Croker, and the film includes the additional talent of playwright Noël Coward, comedian Benny Hill, and Raf Vallone. The heist escape cars are red, white, and blue Minis, with gorgeous automobiles like an orange Lamborghini Miura, Jag E-Types, and Ashton Martin DB4 front and center in the flick.
The Italian Job counts as one of the most brilliant British classics, bringing viewers from their couches right into the chaos of a car chase and creating a thrilling atmosphere through the use of impeccable costumes, a great pace, and overall impressive scenery reaching from green parks to fascinating rooftops with absolute ease . The Italian Job ’s epic cliffhanger ending, in which the coachload of gold is suspended over the edge of a cliff, is one of the most discussed end scenes in cinema history. A remake of the caper was released in 2003, with Mark Wahlberg stepping in to Caine’s role, also featured some enviable vehicles on full display. However, the original has become a classic of its genre and has achieved cult status. Rent on AppleTV
Death Proof (2007)
Death proof.
Release Date 2007-05-22
Director Quentin Tarantino
Cast Kurt Russell, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Vanessa Ferlito, Rosario Dawson, Zoe Bell, Tracie Thoms
Genres Thriller, Action
Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof is a slasher film, which was released in 2007 and tells the story of a stuntman who modifies a Dodge Charger and a Challenger and then uses them in a very unusual and deadly way. While this type of film is usually known for having murderers who kill with knifes or axes at the center, stuntman Mike's weapon of choice is his car, which is built in a way that he, but not his passenger driver, is protected during an accident. Mike, who specifically targets women, continues down a dark path, luring women in and killing them, but when some of his victims survive his attack and they are burning with the desire to seek revenge, his fate takes a turn.
Death Proof Knows How To Use a Car
Considering that Hollywood legend Quentin Tarantino is the director and writer of the film, it should come as no surprise that Death Proof has a unique touch to it. The bigger part of the film is arguably a slow burner, but, just like any other of Tarantino's masterpieces, there is an intention behind every scene, ultimately creating an unexpected turn of events. While, at first, it seems as though it follows the structure of a classic slasher film, there is indeed more to come, and the director used this slow start in order to lure the audience into believing there won't. Then, by the time the killing does happen, Tarantino shows how deadly a car can be as a weapon. This sets up the films final sequence, a massive car chase showdown as one of the most impressive put to screen that plays out more like a sword fight than a car chase. Rent on AppleTV

The fast and the furious.
Release Date 2001-06-22
Director Rob Cohen
Cast Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Chad Lindberg, Rick Yune, Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster
Genres Thriller, Action, Crime
Undeniably one of the most successful franchises of all time, Fast & Furious is a series of action films that feature drool-worthy cars, epic heists, gritty street racing and gravity-defying stunts. The movie that started it all was 2001’s The Fast and the Furious, which focuses on undercover cop Brian O’Conner as he is tasked with determining the identity of a group of automobile hijackers led by Dominic Toretto. The action blockbuster memorably stars Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster and is the quintessential car lover’s film, as it famously shows off a slew of luxurious and ultra-expensive vehicles like a 1994 Toyota Supra, Mazda RX-7 and a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T.
Fast & Furious Launched a Car Franchise
Production attended illegal street races to accurately depict the racing culture, and it is also notable for its inclusion of street racers. Variety called the action flick “a gritty and gratifying cheap thrill, Rob Cohen’s high-octane hot-car meller is a true rarity these days, a really good exploitationer, the sort of thing that would rule at drive-ins if they still existed.” The first film would be a hit and launch what is to this day one of Universal Pictures' biggest movie franchises. While the series has evolved over time, the roots of the film series all start here with an appreciation for classic cars and the power of a vehicle being front and center. Stream on Prime Video

The highly-revered Australian dystopian thriller Mad Max: Fury Road is one of the most acclaimed films ever made. The action film takes place in a self-destructing world, right in the midst of an apocalypse, and focuses on two rebels who might actually be the key to restoring peace and order. Max Rockatansky, shattered after his wife and son were murdered, and Furiosa, who is trying to find a way back to her homeland, are at the center of this action-packed survival story.
Mad Max: Fury Road Drove All The Way to the Oscars
Mad Max: Fury Road is basically chaos and danger made into a film, offering already incredible scenery which is elevated even more by impeccable editing, daunting sounds, and thrilling vehicles with their very own touch, reaching from upgraded trucks to a Ford Falcon. While these aspects already make Max and Furiosa's story stand out, pushing it even further and making it one of the best movies for all car lovers out there is the fact that the majority of the stunts are real . There certainly has been a great change in film stunts, considering the danger for anyone involved and the logistics behind them, but Mad Max: Fury Road went all in and delivered jaw-dropping scenes in which the adrenaline and the drama are more than palpable. The film went on to be nominated for ten Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Audiences are highly anticipating the prequel Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga , which is set for release on May 24, 2024, and likely will end up on this list in the future. Rent on AppleTV

Cast Melissa Holroyd, Nicholas Elia, Scott Porter, Ariel Winter, Susan Sarandon, Emile Hirsch
Runtime 135
Following their successful Matrix trilogies, The Wachowksis decided to cash their blank check in on Speed Racer . The film was an adaptation of the popular anime of the same name, focusing on the titular character and his journey to become the best race car driver in the world. Along the way, Speed takes part in many high-profile races that include bringing down an evil business conspiracy that threatens the integrity of racing as a sport.
Speed Racer is a Movie Made For Car Lovers
While Speed Racer might not be a realistic movie about cars, in fact, it is the exact opposite of that as it takes place in a brightly colored candy-coded world that is a cartoon come to life. Yet what makes Speed Racer the ultimate car movie is the emotion around driving and cars. It is a film that so earnestly believes in racing as an art form, where the character of Racer X beautifully delivers the line:
"It doesn't matter if racing never changes. What matters is if we let racing change us. Every one of us has to find a reason to do this. You don't climb into a T-180 to be a driver. You do it because you're driven."
Anyone who loves cars, or racing, or anything about automobiles will find something to relate to in Speed Racer . It captures the childlike joy of how a vehicle can be powerful and beautiful. With a wide array of gorgeous-looking cars and races that are unlike anything put to screen, Speed Racer puts the pedal to the metal in a rip-roaring good time. Plus, it is hard to argue that among the iconic cars in film and television, a car lover would not jump at the chance to give the Mach-5 a spin. Stream on Max.
Eileen Ending Explained: What’s Going On in Anne Hathaway’s New Thriller?
The noir thriller from director William Oldroyd ends with both shocks and ambiguity.
Editor's note: The following contains spoilers for Eileen.
The Big Picture
- Eileen is a disturbing film about mistreated women seeking freedom.
- The mysterious thriller keeps viewers on edge until a shocking climax.
- The ambiguous ending raises questions about reality and character development.
Based on the novel of the same name by Ottessa Moshfegh , who also co-wrote the script, Eileen is an effectively disturbing film, a powerful look at the lengths to which mistreated women will go to achieve freedom, justice, and happiness, featuring electrifying performances from stars Thomasin McKenzie and Anne Hathaway . Eileen is a mysterious thriller that keeps the viewer at the edge of their seat, until a truly wild climax that ends shockingly and ambiguously. So where does Eileen leave the title character Eileen Dunlop (McKenzie) and the rest of its cast?
A woman's friendship with a new co-worker at the prison facility where she works takes a sinister turn.
What is 'Eileen' About?
The film takes place in 1960s Massachusetts, where Eileen is living a lonely, sad existence. She endures harassment and bullying from co-workers at her job at a correctional facility for young men and verbal abuse from her alcoholic father, Jim ( Shea Whigham ), who constantly compares her unfavorably to her deceased mother and unseen older sister. When the glamorous Rebecca Saint John ( Hathaway ) replaces the prison’s psychologist, Eileen is immediately enamored with the older woman. Rebecca befriends Eileen, further dazzling her with her confident, powerful attitude and unique worldview.
Rebecca is determined to make the prison more humane and take a more active approach to helping inmates with mental health struggles. She becomes especially passionate about helping Lee Polk ( Sam Nivola ), a young man who hacked his father to death, for whom Eileen seems to harbor a romantic and/or sexual fixation. Rebecca is convinced that the horrifically violent nature of the murder suggests that the father must have harmed Lee in a significant way. One day, Eileen observes as Rebecca moderates a visit between Lee and his mother, Rita ( Marin Ireland ), which ends with Rita rushing out of the prison in tears.
Eileen and Rebecca at the Polk Residence
On Christmas Eve, Eileen is delighted to accept an invitation from Rebecca to spend the holiday with her at her home. They have an odd dinner, with Rebecca serving Eileen pickles and cheese, which is all she has in her kitchen. Despite this, Eileen is clearly thrilled to be there. After they continue to bond over drinks for a little while, however, Rebecca shocks Eileen (and viewers who didn’t read the book) by revealing that the house isn’t hers: it’s the Polks’ and that she is holding Rita captive in the basement. Eileen is at first reasonably frightened and goes to leave, but Rebecca stops her.
'Eileen' Review: Anne Hathaway & Thomasin McKenzie Star in Romance-Mystery That Defies Expectations
Rebecca explains that she had come to the house to confront Rita with her suspicions that Lee’s father abused him, which she believed Rita may have been involved in as well. Their conversation devolved into a physical fight, during which they both fell into the basement, incapacitating Rita, who Rebecca then tied up and drugged. Rebecca asks Eileen to stay and serve as a witness while she forces Rita to confess to her complicity. In addition to being frightened, Eileen is initially hurt that Rebecca’s invitation hadn’t been a genuine act of affection. But when Rebecca pleads with her that she needs the support of a friend, Eileen’s burgeoning romantic and obsessive feelings for her—as well as her own darker impulses—win out, and she agrees to help, even getting her father’s gun out of her car to threaten Rita with.
How Does 'Eileen' End?
The pair descend into the basement, where Rebecca pressures Rita to confess while Eileen holds the gun pointed at her. Rita is at first defiant, rebuking them and threatening them with the consequences of abducting her. But after Eileen makes a surprisingly convincing threat to kill her, she eventually breaks down. She tearfully admits that her husband sexually abused Lee over a long period and that she knew he was doing so. Initially, she had been so horrified that she couldn’t make herself admit the abuse was real by reporting it, but she also admitted that she continued to keep quiet because she began to believe that it was improving her and her husband’s marriage. As she finishes the story, Eileen suddenly shoots her in the chest, with the disturbingly simple justification that, “I got upset.”
Despite having been the one to initiate the abduction and interrogation, Rebecca is horrified and begins making meager attempts at giving Rita medical attention. But E ileen urges her to stop, believing that Rita deserves to die, and telling Rebecca she loves her. She says that they could get away with killing her by framing her father and run away to live together. Jim has repeatedly been in trouble with the police for drunkenly brandishing his gun and pointing it at neighbors, so much so that an officer had Eileen take custody of the gun. Jim also worked on Lee’s case when he was on the police force, making him the perfect patsy. Rebecca agrees, and they force-feed Rita tranquilizers to knock her out.
Eileen and Rebecca put Rita in Eileen’s car and agree to meet at her house, where they will stage a scene to make Jim look guilty. But Rebecca never comes. Eileen waits for her until early in the morning, when she drives the car deep into the woods and leaves Rita in it with the windows up so the smoky exhaust the old car constantly emits will kill her. Eileen then walks back to the road and hitches a ride on a passing truck that is driving out of town, likely to fulfill her long-standing dream of going to New York City.
What Does the Ending of 'Eileen' Mean for the Characters?
The ending, which excludes some final scenes from the novel set significantly later , maintains and increases the mysterious ambiguity that makes Eileen , both the character and the film, so interesting, and raises many new questions. In addition to her surprising initial reaction to the shooting, Rebecca not meeting Eileen makes the viewers reconsider a lot of what they thought they knew about the character. Some viewers may even consider the idea that Rebecca wasn’t actually a real person, but a figment of Eileen’s imagination, an interpretation of the novel Moshfegh seems to support, having told The Guardian , “Rebecca was somebody else’s character, a character from a movie or book read long ago. She is an imaginary person in another sense too in that Eileen has imagined her.” Even if one thinks she is real, her reaction to the shooting and choosing not to join Eileen show that she is arguably more moral and less disturbed than Eileen , when the earlier parts of the film led one to believe the opposite.
Eileen’s final expression is also thought-provoking. In the final scene, as the truck drives, she smiles to herself, leaving the viewer to wonder why she would do so. While it makes sense that she would be relieved to get away with the murder, and likely also happy to be free of her father and her dreary hometown, she is once again as alone as she was before Rebecca came into her life . This could be argued to lend further support to the idea of Rebecca being imaginary. If that’s the case, perhaps Eileen’s mind subconsciously created Rebecca to develop her confidence and agency. Now that she believes she has done so by killing Rita and leaving, Rebecca is no longer needed.
From this point of view, the smile would be seen as evidence of Eileen realizing she has become more powerful and taken control of her life, no longer needing her imaginary alter-ego. If Rebecca was real, the smile is a little more confounding, as one would assume that Eileen would still be fairly hurt that the woman she loved didn’t come with her. If she is smiling despite that, the film’s argument may be that her freeing herself from her oppressive life was more important than her starting a romance with Rebecca. McKenzie’s performance throughout the film is excellent, but her work is especially striking in this scene, as she delivers the smile in a way that allows different viewers to read it as suggesting many different meanings .
Eileen is now available to watch on Hulu in the U.S.

‘Furiosa’ Review: George Miller’s Latest High Octane Opera Is Supercharged With Lunatic Intensity
- Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Director Reveals Tom Hardy “Had To Be Coaxed Out Of His Trailer” To Film, Fueling His Feud With Charlize Theron
‘horizon’: kevin costner’s highly anticipated western will premiere at cannes, the 26 most anticipated movies of 2024, from ‘dune’ to ‘wicked’.
“I don’t understand two things,” said the filmmaker Steven Soderbergh of Mad Max: Fury Road in a 2017 interview with The Hollywood Reporter . “I don’t understand how they’re not still shooting that film and I don’t understand how hundreds of people aren’t dead.” Whether it’s more or less impressive to pull off an impossible feat for a second time — you’ve got the benefit of experience, but the probability of lightning striking the same place twice is even slimmer — George Miller has brought us another comprehension-defying work of high octane opera. Like some kind of madman Moses with nitroglycerine pumping through his veins, he led his people back into the desert and everyone emerged with all their fingers and toes intact, along with the footage containing the most virtuosic action committed to film since the last time he started his engines.
Nine years ago, Fury Road roared into the monoculture with the force of a post-apocalyptic tanker truck for its element of surprise, nobody expecting a consistent yet long-dormant IP fossil to be exhumed and shocked back to life using the technologies of the 21st century. Starting with its clunky clause-swapping title, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga arrives with a clearer mandate, feeling less like the fifth Mad Max installment and more like the second Fury Road . (On streaming channels, the thumbnail art for the first three pictures has also been tweaked to fall in line with Fury Road ’s bright-yellow branding.) The lean-and-mean minimalism of its 2015 predecessor has given way to more expansive ambitions for Furiosa , and the extra half-hour of lore results in some mild bloat. But the core of the series remains the set pieces supercharged with lunatic intensity, incomparable syntheses of intricate choreography, obsessive production design, and death-baiting stuntwork in brash violation of all we know about both modern studio filmmaking and basic physics.
Though most scripting will seem involved in comparison to Fury Road ’s plotline of “they drive over there, then drive back the way they came,” Furiosa mounts a conspicuously vast canvas with multiple chapter cards spanning decades of our grease-streaked heroine’s life. Orphaned and abducted in girlhood by the biker warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth, his curled mustache suggesting the steampunk version of a villain who’d tie a lady to train tracks), Furiosa spends her formative years in captivity, caught in the crossfire between her captor and the equally megalomaniacal Immortan Joe (Lachy Hulme) as she grows into the steely, taciturn adult originated by Charlize Theron. With her glower set to maximum hardness, Anya Taylor-Joy doesn’t play the character so differently, the accomplishments of her performance more physical rather than conceptual. It was never too difficult to surmise the path through the Malthusian dystopia of resource deprivation and male oppression that deposited the character at the beginning of Fury Road , the precise endpoint of Furiosa ‘s preambling, and those wondering about the purpose of laying out her origin won’t find a better answer than getting the backstory on her severed arm.
The impulse to give fans more of the world-building they so crave smacks of corporate cajoling, an air that dissipates during the high-speed raids Miller lives to stage. In the biggest departure from his past exploits, he orients more of the major showstoppers around sniping, a complicated gambit that requires him to maintain spatial coherence between several points of focus as far as a mile away from one another. He orchestrates organized pandemonium in such a way that makes comprehension easy while revealing how hard the crew labored to hold it all together; in pulse-raising crane shots (some of which surely necessitated transferring the camera from one crane to another), we soar over vehicles in motion with judicious precision, the exact opposite of the let’s-just-see-what-we-get attitude prevalent in today’s coverage-style cinematography. All the praise heaped upon Miller the last time around — that he realizes the pure kinetic potential of the medium with more expertise and unbridled glee than anyone alive — still applies.
“The willingness to go the extra mile (at lethal ramming speed) sets Furiosa apart from the rest of the popcorn pack, and turns every wide shot into a banquet of little delights.”
Miller and his team haven’t stopped playing for love of the game, a passion visible in every fine-tuned facet of production. To pick one, consider the wardrobe department; hundreds of extras in richly and imaginatively detailed costumes, and I don’t think I saw any two wearing the same thing. The willingness to go the extra mile (at lethal ramming speed) sets the property apart from the rest of the popcorn pack, and turns every wide shot into a banquet of little delights. Dementus, for no other reason than it looks cool, travels by several lashed-together motorcycles joined with a single steering rack to resemble a Roman chariot of horses. A disarmingly poignant grace note shows us one War Boy (played by kid amateur Quaden Bayles, previously tapped by Miller for Three Thousand Years of Longing in the wake of news stories about getting bullied for his dwarfism) protecting a supply of fresh produce. Urine plays a more significant role in these proceedings than most of what’ll screen at your neighborhood multiplex this summer.
In this instance, however, the welcome sense of novel idiosyncrasy grinds against an attachment to what worked for Fury Road . Furiosa gains a sidekick to serve the same stoically assistive function as Tom Hardy’s Max in identical turncoat Praetorian Jack (Tom Burke), the clever inversion of demoting the title character to a supporting player in his own story now gone. Taylor-Joy gets the chance to replay a lot of Theron’s greatest hits as if doing hardship karaoke: same power walk that betrays modeling experience in the hips, same primal scream with the same symbolic significance of gendered pain, same slow-mo close-up as she picks herself up off the ground and shakes out the sand. At a glance, the surest way to tell this film apart from the last would be the occasionally wonky digital compositing in some fight sequences, given away by the telltale muddled lighting heretofore skillfully avoided.
“Do you have it in you to make it epic?” goes a taunt from Dementus, challenging Furiosa not just to take her revenge but to claim her place in legend. The mechanics of mythmaking sculpt the most overtly sequel-minded extension of the Max-iad, the hopelessness of a wasteland without a future leaving her with no choice but to find inspiration in the narrative she’s plotted for herself. Furiosa has nothing to believe in but her own will to survive, the lone rider’s self-sufficiency rooted in the Westerns that have always provided a template for Miller to push against and break. Miller and Taylor-Joy succeed in building her up to be larger than life while staying in touch with her mortal frailties, even if the fixation on her leads them to retread some familiar dunes. To whatever extent this gums up the interstitial works between fume-snorting displays of technical excellence, it can’t slow down a Hollywood anomaly of big-budget artisanship leaving the rest of the pack in its dust. High on exhaust and the limitless capabilities of cinema, this no-brakes franchise keeps careening onward as if it could run forever.

Mammootty fans upset over delay in 'Turbo' trailer release, other promotional content
After back-to-back hits, Mammooty is gearing up for his next release 'Turbo', which will hit theatres on May 16. Though there is a lot of anticipation around the film's release, Mammootty fans are disappointed that the filmmakers have shared very few updates about the film. Though the makers have announced the trailer would release on May 12, many feel it is late, considering most of Mammootty's films have been promoted well in the past. Recently, speculations were rife that Mammootty will be playing a driver in this film, which is helmed by Vysakh. Mammootty's look for the movie had gone viral, with the actor sporting a close cut look. The speculations began after a scene from the movie 'Manu Uncle' featuring Mammooty driving an ambassador car with the word 'Turbo' inscribed on the front door, went viral. Though it may be coincidental, Mammootty fans think the film has a connection to the 1980 movie. Director Vysakh known mostly for successful films like 'Pulimurugan', 'Mallu Singh' and 'Pokkiri Raja' is helming the project. Though Vysakh's recent outing 'Monster' was a disaster, people still are pinning hopes on the movie considering Vysakh's previous string of successes and Mammootty's presence. Midhun Manuel Thomas has written the script of the film.

Verdict. In Car is a survival thriller with a relatable plot about how women get abducted in India on a daily basis and go through it. The plot is established well and Ritika Singh nails it with her performance. But the film is low on thrills and does not move you emotionally.
The climax is simplistic and lazy. Granted that we can't expect much drama and creative liberty from a survival thriller, but 'InCar' is half a line of a story. Ritika Singh's earnestness keeps us ...

To summarize, the team's intention behind making In Car is fine but the director failed miserably to execute the concept with enough gripping elements. Despite decent efforts from the lead cast, the film turns shoddy. Verdict: A drive that lacks soul! Rating: 1.5/5.

There are three things in the movie that would scale this movie up to a PG rating: (1) The adult humor of two Mazda Miata characters flashing their "headlights," which imply female breasts. (2) One car calls a minivan "sexy." Kids younger than 11-13 should not repeat that word. (3) The derogatory term and the mild swear word, "h*llb*lly" and ...

This older America has long been much-beloved by Hollywood, and apparently it survives ...
