Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

Born on September 5th, 1888, Sir Radhakrishnan was a man of high esteems and values. He was one of India’s most dignified personalities. He had received his education in the field of philosophy. Some of his notable books are- The Hindu View of Life, A Source Book in Indian Philosophy, The Philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore, The Pursuit of Life, Faith Renewed, etc. These books radiate a pearl of gigantic wisdom and are a must-read.

Furthermore, Sir Radhakrishnan served the nation as the first Vice President of India from 1952 to 1962 and the second President of India from 1962 to 1967. Besides, he is also the recipient of India’s highest civilian honour i.e. Bharat Ratna in 1954 . He has been nominated 16 times for Nobel Prize in Literature while 11 times in the category Nobel Peace Prize.

Dr Radhakrishnan always believed that teachers must be the best minds in the nation . He donated a major part of his income as President to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.

Teachers inspire us to bring about the best in ourselves and serve the country. Without teachers, there is no lawyer, no doctor, no IAS officer, no scientist, and no astronaut. They support and guide us through our ways selflessly.

It was after becoming the President of India, that some of his friends and students approached Dr. Radhakrishnan to celebrate his birthday. To this, he replied that instead of celebrating his birthday on this particular date, it would be his privilege if 5th September is celebrated as Teachers’ Day all over India. When some of his students asked to celebrate his birthday, Dr Radhakrishnan told them that instead of celebrating his birthday on September 5th, they should celebrate Teachers’ Day. This demonstrates how dedicated he was to teaching and how passionate he was about showing respect to all teachers. Students can be difficult to manage at times, but every teacher has assisted us in learning from our mistakes and growing. Teachers have chastised us for our mistakes and praised us whenever we have achieved a goal. We’ve all imitated our teachers at some point because, deep down, every student wishes to be like their role model, and some wish to emulate certain characteristics of their favourite teachers as well.

Before we start celebrating Teachers’ Day, I’d like to thank my teachers from the bottom of my heart for standing beside us and helping us grow. Without their teachers, the students have no worth.

It is an exciting day filled with activities and special performances organised by the students, especially for their teachers. Teachers are like other parents, who make a good impact on our lives and are always there to help us get out of a problem whenever we need them.

All of us have imitated our teachers on someday because we consider them our ideal because they provide us with everything we need to make ourselves a good personality.

Every teacher has certain qualities:

Whenever we feel low we always think about our teachers and the conversation helps us overcome those feelings.

They not only impart knowledge about our subjects but they also share their life experiences which help us to analyze our lives and apply the same advice.
